FrownWell guys it happened. I was at the local Napa store to buy some 2 dollar bolts and wiring kits for my tach on the Patrol and then an old grampie in a huge deisel Chevy backed into my Patrol. He hit the only dented fender I have on the truck, the passenger right front. (Notice my light is already broken) Anyway turns out this guy a real cool guy that lives here in Flagstaff. (Money bags too) So we decided just to have him give me the money to fix it. He then invited me and my friend over to his place to see his projects, 2 crazy jeeps and a sand rail buggie with a 400hp turbo engine. This guy built the whole thing. Funny thing is that it is hard to imagine how he can navigate a 400hp buggie at high speeds but not a pickup at less than 5 miles an hour in a parking lot.

The Bottom Line is that the damage is minimal and he has all the tools to fix it. So he and I are just going to fix it ourselves at his house. I think I'll even try to get this guy to bust out some crafty stuff for the Patrol.

It was a strange way to start the day,

Really, thats nothing a little hammering wouldnt fix. I could probably have that hammered smooth in about an hour or two. The broken light is what really sucks.. they dont make replacements anymore and all the parts trucks have been stripped..

Bummer! Frown
Yeah, the light might be hard to replace.
That's wierd - I just noticed yours has rectangular running lights and mine ('69) has the round ones. The '69 brochure also shows the round one. Confused

Thanks for posting the picture, Duerk.

Dogwater, I didn't think the round lights were an option in 69. But your book would likely be right. Perhaps Fudd is the only one who can clarify this mystery? Confused

Also, the guy doesn't know the light was already broken, so he will be willing to make it right. Besides, I could have had his insurance pay for the repairs so he is happy to do his part.

yes i know the awnser Big Grin

I rectangular bezel is the optional one. More 69 Patrols seem to have the rectangular ones but they are an option. You should be able to find a decent used pair for about $80, that is what I sold the last set I had for and they were good. The round fronts with good glass lens and bezel is actually harder to find, all the old bezels are usually rotten and the ring/lens clips on making them junk if rotten. If by chance you can not find them a member of the NPCA site down in Columbia can get new after market ones for like $2-3!!

Is that the true for the rear one? I'm missing a round rear running light. It looks the same as the front except orange instead of clear. It's about the only part I am missing on the thing - besides the engine, of course! Roll Eyes

Hey man...are you talking rear tail light or rear reflector? I am unaware of any rear running light....just brake light, license light and the very rare back up light. BTW, Jeff S., aka Jeepy, has the refelctors and I think he has a spare used good block! He has lot's of other goodies but the stuff I want the won't sell...lol!

Maybe they're just reflectors. Not the tail lights. I guess I assumed they lit up too. Sounds like I'll want to talk to Jeepy! As soon as the snow is melted back enough and I can get ahold of an engine stand, I'll know better what condition the engine is in.

well....what I say is not the gospel on Patrols. Many things I don't know....but I don't recall a rear running light. I have never owned a Patrol newer than 67 and in 68 a lot of changes took place. I do recall seeing a few 69's that had an odd bullet shaped rear light or reflector. It was kind of pointed....so it could be stock, hard to tell and hard to remember it. Look at the brand on it if there is one or get a picture for me Wink
