Maybe an "in-cab" brake proportioning valve
( adjustable) could take the pressure off the front binders, when necessary, so the downhill sections wouldn't be so hairy. In other words dragging the rear brakes on the downhill sections, only, w/ the fronts hardly working( if at all) would mitigate rollovers of this type. It might make things more exciting, as well, but the endo's would diminish. ..................... 98 FAD Fronty |

quote: Either that or the stock e-brake(for models with rear e-brake only)... There is a guy on the Full Size Jeep board that uses individual levers for each rear-wheel's e-brake as a traction control... pretty nifty... It's been tried on an Xterra (cutting brakes) and the rear drums just don't have the bite to be of real use.

Wonder how well it would work on the rear discs on the pathy? If its like most other rear disc vehicles, its probably got drum parking brakes inside the disc. Ihave yet to remove mine to find out. haha
I do know the parking brake trick works REALLY well though on my truck to regain traction when you've lost it in the rear. BEEFYJames Fabrication - Custom Fabricated for Use and Abuse Nissan Terrano .. "Take a grip of Steering!" |

Another thing that could have helped was a Pre-Runner bumper!

The guy on the Full Size Jeep board used some sort of VW setup... I could e-mail him and ask, if you would like...

The "cutting brake" idea's a buenidea.
I don't think using a proportioning valve would be the way to go, now, after reading the specs on the Wilwood stuff-reduces the pressure by 57% when at max. ... I waNT 100%, i think ,for some situations. Jus' tuggin on the Ebrake seems so much easier. ..................... 98 FAD Fronty |

what you need is a line lock. the ability to disable braking to either the front or rear, at the flick of a switch. They're cheap from any racer supply shop. plumb is as easy as cutting the existing brake line, flaring, and screwing both new ends into the linelock. wiring is just 12v hot, switch, solenoid, ground.

Its not quite as cool as independant front and rear braking (maybe I'll build that into a truck some day.. that'd be COOL).. since you could only do front brakes... rear brakes... or both at the same pressure.. there'd be no front brakes at 15% and rears at 30%
