Hey Fudd have you heard about U-Joints going out in the Patrols? Do you know where I could get some spares. I really don't want one of them to blow when I'm in the PHX area and end up cooking myself in the sun? How about your custom steering (tierods, etc.)?

You can still get U-Joints... I got some at O'Reillys...

AutoDrive 331/AD

I had to clean up the place where the old caps were with some sand paper, though...

good info Jon....I heard about a place to get some but can't remember what, where or when. They are hard to find, maybe it was a listing on NPCA site under compatable parts or better yet try Jon's suggestion.

Jonx4x4,

Where is this O'Reilly, and how much did you pay for them? Are all 4 the same?

O'Reilly's is just one of the parts stores around here... kinda like Autozone, Napa, Advanced, Pepboys, or what ever...

I paid $9.99 if I recall correctly...

They look the same, as far as I can tell...

Its Auto Drive part# 331

Alright, I just wrote down the wrong part number. I just realized that. I think that was the part number for the U-Joint on my Chevy S-10. Ill dig through my many recipts and see if I can find the one for the Patrol.

Okay, I was right in the first place. I tried that u-joint on one of my yokes, and it didnt fit. Thats why I thought it was the S-10 U-Joint. I got on the NPCA(Nissan Patrol Club of Albuquerue), and got the U-Joint part number off of there. I had it cross-referenced at O'Reillys(again, the local parts store), and they gave me the number of that U-Joint I mentioned earlier. On the NPCA site, it said you had to do a little sanding. Well, I dont know about yall's but there was ALOT of sanding to do on mine! I had to take about 1/16" off in two areas on each Yoke. Anyways, here are 2 part numbers for the same u-joint:

Auto Drive- #331
PDQ(Proven Drivetrain Quality)- #2-0053

Other than having to grind 1/16" off of those areas, they fit just fine! I tried taking some pics to show what areas need to be grinded down, but my digicam was messing up. If you try to install those u-joints, you will see what areas need to be grinded down. That is, if yours is like mine. Im assuming they would be...

I did it with a simple drill and one of those cone-shaped grinding attatchments. It doesnt take much work at all.

Sorry for the confusion
