I would love to see the power increase you are getting out of these mods. Considering the factory setup, and potential of similar motors, our motor is most likely capable of 200hp with a 2bbl carb, maybe a header, and a few other things...

I can say that I tend to agree with that Jon...if I could get a better than stock cam also it would do wonders. There is no reason the motor can't do a fair share more with only a few mods. The drawback may be though that torque decreases....

I see no reason not to give the Jet-hot or similar a try and aslo chrome. This is what I do...get it and test then offer what I think is best. Not to mention having the best on my trucks! Lift kit #2 finally arrived today after much hassle. Yet, it looks like a sweet arse kit for sure. Have one more kit coming in January to test also. I have at least 2 of the 3 lift kits available.

Well, some mods increase torque, some mods increase horsepower, and some mods increase both maybe one more than the other though.

A longer duration cam would increase torque.

Well, due to extreme wear on my cap and rotor, I had to finally say goodbye to the old waterproof Hitachi. The Patrol had sat for nearly 2 weeks without running, and something really had to be done! Im going to have to drive this thing every day until my S-10 lives again!

I went salvage yardin, and found a 1981 "Dallas Cowboys Edition"(I know, WTF?!) 280ZX. It only had 113,000mi on it, and paid $45 for it. I brought the dizzy home, cleaned it up a bit, and started making the few modifications needed to make the ZX dizzy fit.

I found that the bolts used to hold the injectors on the Z-Car are the perfect size of 8mm bolt. Once you get the correct washers on it, it fits perfect.

Ive also discovered that after you've cut off the excess metal on the old adjuster piece, you can make the female oil pump timing gear -to- female distributor drive shaft adapter out of the left over metal. It fits snug up in there, and adds absolutely no additional slack!

When looking for the perfect sleeve to fit over the two female ends, make sure it fits snug on the oil pump timing gear. It helps alot.

Ive decided that rather than removing the whole distributor including the base like I had previously done with the old Patrol distributor, it is much easier to just pull the distributor out of base.

Ive got the distributor in, and once the distributor was fully advanced, it started with just a simple turn of the key. I couldnt even check the spark. The friggin engine would start on only 5 cylinders! Ran like junk, but it ran.

I also noticed that when it started in the process of checking all the wires for spark, the spark was jumping 1" gaps!! I was holding the spark plug wire with a pair of needle nose pliars, and the friggin spark managed to get my hand over an inch away!!

Ive noticed it doesnt hesitate when I have the distributor fully advanced. I may have to advance it down by the camshaft by another tooth and retard it a degree or two up at the distributor. I dunno, we will see how it performs tomarrow.

Thanks for the info, Jason. I thought the descriptions and photos your provided didnt leave enough info, but once somebody has the parts right in front of them, they should realize that your info is more than enough!

Another tip... When searching for a good distributor, pull the distributor out of its base, and check for slack in the bottom bushing. You can do this by trying to jiggle the bottom end of the distributor drive shaft.
