Hey guys with the 280z distributor, check your vac advance. I ordered one through Nissan put it on and WOW! it goes almost too fast to stop. Once I get the new wheel cylinder I'll feel a lot better. Wink

More details, please.

I have the 280 distro and it is starting/running great. Never messed with the vacuum advance...

Hey Joey,

Well the only thing is to make sure your vac advance is working. A simpl way to test it is with a vac tester, or you can hook up a timing light and then give the engine a rev. You will see the timing advance if it is working. My vac advance was dead becasue I got the distributor from a PHX junk yard. Too much sun and heat for rubber to survive. My Patrol still would benefit from a solid valve job, but it has a lot more power and I feel much safer tacking it out a bit. I know if you run an engine with a bad vac advance for a long time you will end up messing up some valves.

When did you do your 280z conversion?

In April or May. It was really quick and easy. But I do not have any hoses hooked up to it. I figured there was no vac advance on the P-engine, so the part on the distro is unused. Where do I hook it up?

Take a look at some of my old Patrol postings. I have done a photo/write up on the conversion. If you have the rochester carb then there is definately a vac advance. I would imagine your distributor must have a vac advance on it right?
