pictures of the 83 MQ

Yea I plan now to keep the SD33 that is in it. After getting the truck and seeing the thousands in receipts for the motor I decided this the best route to go with it. Once the problem with the motor is worked out it should be ready to go for at least 100,000 miles as it is fully rebuilt. A turbo and an intercooler plus a snorkel and I will be happy with it. It is a great project and I am more than happy with it for the $1500 it cost me!

BTW, this 83 Patrol came from Germany but was built in the Netherlands. Since about 1988 it has been in the desert in southern California. It has 331,000 kilos on it...

Needs some R&R, but it looks like a great solid truck.

yea it needs R&R for sure...I think for the most part I can handle it though. I was wanting to run a 9x33 or 9x34 tire on a 16" rim. Was going to shoot for 3-4" lift without SOA. SOA be sweet for sure but may not want to spend that much $$$ on it as I not sure I have skills to do it myself. Gonna ARB front and rear diffs, you were right DR both are C200's. The H260 is rare in MQ/MK's. Gonna do a roll bar or cage inside cab for sure. Planned just on sliders and skids with a low profile winch bumper. PTO winch be sweet but hard to find for the MQ/MK so will just use a 24v electric. Spare tire will be located in rear or on carrier outside the truck, maybe even the roof. Not really rock wheeling here so exo may be overkill!

I had not seen this auction. Real good price on the motor, like next to free. Odd they say it came from a Z car...don't think that is correct. It looks to be in good shape but is missing the turbo, injector pump and few other things. It is close enough to me to pick it up but I don't think I have much use for it other than a future mod project. I amy need a turbo head as I hear they different than on a non-turbo SD33. Yet, I plan to find out for sure before I go buying a new head, the one on my SD33 is new already from Nissan at a cost of $900. I have found a complete turbo with manifolds in New Zealand. Real nice guy selling it to me and a real good price. Going to try and get the motor running right this month so the MQ is not just sitting. Also getting quotes for the body chop and tuck I want to do plus Rihno lining the whole interior. I think I am going to use a Nissan Cabstar 5spd in the truck mated to the stock transfer case, with lockers this should make it seriously mean.

It might be one of the closest fits but won't bolt up. Tranny mounts are different and the shaft is different at the least. I am pretty sure you are going to need an adaptor plate to bolt to the motor too. I do have a spare MQ 4spd and transfer case that came out of this truck. The tranny is in the box but the transfer is out. I have thought about selling the lot, I have pictures....email me.

It's out of a 82 maxima it has everything engine tranny and ecu.

There's also a whole 82 diesel nissan maxima for sale on ebay for $950 as well.
