Well I am a few days and less than $30(I think) worth of parts away from roadworthiness now... Is there anything you can think of that I should inspect, lube, or clean before I test it out?

Well, we got an unexpected shower today, so Im a lil behind schedule. I did manage to fill my T-Case with fluid, clean out the minibed(the area behind the front seats), replace the choke cable, install a thermostat, and replace the light for the speedometer, though.
Oh well, hopefully I can get the axle in tomarrow after school... Hmm... I wonder if I can con a few of my friends into coming over and helping me tomarrow... Well, I keep running into little hang-ups...
The Chevy springs has a perfectly centered centering pin, so I had to re-drill new centering pin holes in the spring perches... I guess I was having a brain fart, because when I went to put the u-bolts on... I realized I needed a new hole cut in the u-bolt plate. Got that cut out, and the axle is now in. When I tried bleeding the brakes, the Landcruiser wheel cylinders expanded all the way and gushed out brake fluid... So now it looks like I will be rebuilding wheel cylinders!!! Thank god the the driveshaft bolted up!!! Its looking like I will be able to drive it before the end of this month!!! Im so stoked!! hang with it. I know just how it can be. My truck had been shut down for almost a month when I had my electrical fire. There was always some little thing that casued a problem signifcant enough to prevent starting.

dont do that.. the rear brakes dont do much.. but they DO help stop the truck.. with no power brakes, you really need all 4.

THE PATROL IS PATROLLIN!!! I drove it around the block once, and crashed it into my carport(no damage to rig or carport) because I ran out of brake fluid... The second time was more uneventful. I killed the rig 3 times on one corner(first time using a clutch, give me a break!!).
Anyways, it now moves under its own power, and I will be taking it out(with the help of a friend) tomarrow to get some good pics! "TSUNAMI" 1969 Nissan Patrol Mods getting too numerous to list! 79,000 Original Miles! |

Thanks, Im so stoked....
So used to seeing nothing in the rear fender wells, it looks wierd... Might also have something to do with those big Chevy leaf springs that gave me 2" of lift in the rear... that might have something to do with it... The FJ-40 axle is a good 2-3" narrower than the stock axle, so Im able to stuff 31x10.5's on FJ-40 rims with NO RUB!! Alright. Ive got a few pics up on my Off Road World.net gallery... here they are...
This is my 69 Nissan and my 4-Wheelin buddy(Heath) in his 67 Kaiser, stopping for a few pics on our way to the local trail... Just having ascended a large hill, and descended a smaller one. A large rock I landed my diff on... I seriously didnt see it... My Nissan trying to look like one of the locals(see the weed sticking out of its hand crank hole?) after having landed its diff on that rock(can you see the white on the bottom edge?). Heath trying to fix his bent cross member after having landed on a rock right next to the one I landed on trying to pull me off the rock. The cross member wasnt built very good... Damage: Paint chipped off of both rigs after rubbing up against eachother a bit. Oil from oil bath breather spilled EVERYWHERE! The Patrol did pretty good. I killed it a few times, because before Saturday, I had never driven a standard before. It died just 2 blocks away from my house and had to be towed home because I ran out of gas... I put some more gas in, and it runs just fine! "TSUNAMI" 1969 Nissan Patrol Mods getting too numerous to list! 79,000 Original Miles! |
