Hey guys,

I spoke to my local spring/off-road shop and I decided to let them give my Patrol a go. Tomorrow it will be ready with a new 2.5 inch lift so I'll just have to keep saving my pennies for new 31" mud tires.

The lift will consist of new rearched leafs with an additional leaf added in the stack. I'm replacing all bushings, even the sway bar ones and going with 4 new superlift shocks. I can't wait to test this new system on the trails here in Flagstaff!

Here is an update: turns out they went up about 3.5" over the existing stance because the leafs were so flat. It is nice to see some open space between the tire and fender in the rear: however, I will just end up filling that space with a bigger tire... And this is where endless cycle to attain additional height begins.

Nice! Smile 3.5" will help a LOT. The springs on my patrol were rearched as well. Combined with the SOA, it has about a 8-10" lift.

John is right, the picture is before the lift. I now have more room over the rear tire and a ton more in the front.

The total cost was $713 with all labor, taxes and 4 superlift shocks. Pricey but still much less that the ironman lift. Plus I called the guy at Ironman here in flagstaff and he never called me back about when he was going to take measurements from my patrol. So I just decided to forget him and deal with people who want and appreciate my business. The truck rides so much better now. The old leafs were so soft in the past that I thought I would role the thing on the coners. But, now it takes to the corners much better. I'm very pleased with the work except that it makes my current tires look so weak I'm almost assamed. Soon that problem will be rendered.

Nice! How about a pic? The price sounds ok considering the Ironman price. What size tires do you think you'll be able to fit in there? I know a spring lift will be one of the first things I'll want to do to mine once I get it on the road again.

Yeah the updated photo is to come later. I should be able to fit 31" with no problem. But I'm getting some 32"X9.50 superswampers. And I've become determined to make them fit.

Yeah, well Seth never called me back either about getting the measurments from my Patrol. My boss from work off roads with Seth a bit and Seth is a FJ-40 Toyota guy and he does not have a "real shop" of his own. He mostly works out of his father's autorepair business. Well Fudd if you reach your boiling point I'll drop buy Seth's house and talk to him in person. I'll tell him to get a sweet lift to you right away or give your $$$ back. Keep me posted. By the way I'll be in Mexico for the next week so it will have to wait until I get back.
