I got a Modern Motors April '73 on Ebay and it came today (along with my '90 HB FSM!). I thought it was going to be a regular test-drive article but it's a test drive of a Patrol made into a camper by the Freeway Camper Co.

Heheh, yeah it'd be a longbed. It says to reduce the overhang they extended the 98.4" WB by 24". They sold for 6508 Aussie bucks back then...

heh..that is hella long! I think a cab and chassis be best for stake bed as you could make it the length to suit your tastes. I would want it short...I am going to be looking for a truck cab patrol for myself in the future. Then as time goes by should be brining in more of these trucks for resale...
I have been thinking too about RHD. If you change out the bulkhead and dash, swap the steering box and then new tie rods/draglink wouldn't you have a LHD Patrol? It seems to me that is all it would take to convert RHD to LHD on an old Patrol. 64 L60 Patrol *project in the works* 64 KL60 Patrol "Hogan" -67 145 HP engine -Koenig stock PTO winch -7.50x16 Michelin XZL's -Rancho 5000's 66 KL60 Patrol "Admiral Togo" -40K original miles -245-75R15 Cooper Discoverers on stock 15" split rims & caps |

Probably just steering box would be my bet, because the glove box and the steering wheel/inst. panel could be swapped out. Also, the heater would have to be moved...
I think the draglink and tie rods would maybe just be able to be flipped over and re-used... Thats what I think, but cant be sure... "TSUNAMI" 1969 Nissan Patrol Mods getting too numerous to list! 79,000 Original Miles! |
