yea the red 66 is Togo. It is very cherry, best mostly stock P-troll I have ever seen. It came from the original owner who was a car collector. He bought the first Datsun in the USA back in 1960, he was a car collector. He bought Togo to plow his driveway. It has verything it came with except the rear refelctors. Tool kit (complete), optional radio and speaker, hub caps, free wheeling hubs, jack, engine hand crank, owners manual, Patrol specific snow plow and tons of parts. It is also documented back to before purchase in 66 with letters to and from Nissan. I could go on and on about it...it is very nice but needs a clutch, alternator and new suspension. I was going to start a resto on it by now but have decided to start the 64 ragtop first insted. Can you believe that the orginal owner of Togo was killed by a car!? He was hit in front of his house while checking his mail...he lived in the same place over 60 years...sort of ironic.

I would like to make my 64 ragtop into a L60H meaning heavy duty Patrol. All it will take is a H model rear end and driveline plus HD leafs that I already have coming. We will see if I can find the H modle rear end....

I would really like to see that Patrol in person. Just to appreciate the condition it is in.

I hate to bring a dead topic back to life, BUT... I was digging through my bookmarks, and found this link. Its the fording kit for a Kaiser-Jeep M715 5/4 ton military truck.

http://m715zone.com/manuals/Chapter_3_Section_3.html

I was thinking of making a smoke stack like the one in that pic. Make it bolt-on, and have the upper support that attatches to a heat shield. The support would go across the top of the fender, under the hood, and bolt to the inner fender in the engine bay. I would mount a rubber bumper to the heat shield, so that it will be pushed snuggly against the fender when the support is bolted on under the hood.

I will make the snorkel out of the oil bath breather from a 1980's Ford pickup with a 300 L6 and some piping... Prolly PVC. I havent quite decided how to mount the snorkel, though. Ive thought of 2 ideas, and would kinda like some input from some of you guys.

Design A- It will bolt to the front part of the windshield and have a flexible piece of tubing that will allow it to still be on, even though the windshield is down.

Design B- It will have a nice, strong mount on the fender, and stick out far enough that the windshield can still be folded down onto the hood without bumping it.

Whadda yall think?

I think it will look good and function great. I might do this later down the line and just bend some exhaust pipe say 4" diameter to run the tube

Cool. Which design would you prefer, though?

Sorry, I am thinking design B that way it won't flop around and be a steady mount, but I would also maybe bend the tube coming out and add a mount on the side of the windshield in the same way they did on the M-715

Thanks! Ill bet I could make that bend with a 1000 degree heat gun... Where to get the pre-cleaner, though... I think I know where an old Military Tractor is... Ill rob the air pre-cleaner off of it...

For those that are 100% open top, I would even consider running it through the passenger compartment and then up the backside of the windshield. That way you dont have to deal with it getting in the way of the windshield folding down. This would also let you integrate it into the interior cage, or have it be protected by the cage.

Well, Im gonna make a clamp that uses 2 bolts to just 'clamp' down onto the drip gutter on the side of the windshield. I plan on putting my top back on in November, so I want to be able to keep keep my deep water fording kit even when the top is on.

I dig the intergrated thing. It is this way on my Pinz and rules. Simple design, flexable poly pipe mounted into the air intake. This hooks into a steel pipe that comes right out the grill and into the cab roll bar. The system is air tight with holes in bar over passenger door with screen for large debris. This puts intake at 7ft off the deck! I like it Big Grin
