Two 1966 Patrols in Phoenix on Ebay

Man, I live on the wrong side of the country! Another reason I sorta wish I still lived in Tucson... Wink

The running one has trimmed fenders... would look better if he put some fender flares on...

I do believe there is 3 rigs in the deal...and for $1500 3 Patrols is a great deal. They all look bit beat up but 3 rigs for that price is solid. If I only had more cash, more space and a much bigger truck to haul with I would buy them but I don't. Roll Eyes

I just got home very early this AM from SD. Picked up a 65 parts rig I bought off ebay...it was a long haul for a dead Patrol but there are some good parts on it. On the way there only about 100 miles from where I live I found a very solid very clean and stock 66 Patrol. It is basically sitting in a field in Wyoming. I left the people a note as they were not home, may have to go back down there as I kinda doubt they will call me. It is a KL60, stock blue with split rims and the one piece doors that changed in 66. There is very little rust considering other than the top that has some surface rust from sitting outside so long. The top is saveable though if dealt with soon. I hope to either get it or motivate them to fix it as I hate seeing these rigs just sitting and rotting. Like I say it is complete and original. It has not been cut on or rigged or welded on and it has all it's stock stuff. All it is missing is the tool kit, chrome caps on rims, jack and engine hand crank. It has 65k miles, stock decent non-ripped floor mats and a very solid body. I could not believe but it has the stock owners manual and repair book in the glove box plus a new Nissan Patrol shock on the seat! I hope to get it as this 66 is a perfect rig for resto, I am sure I could get it running in under and hour. A bit of gas, a battery, some plugs and some starting fluid and I am sure it will start! I took a bunch of pics...try to get them up sometime as it is a very cool rig just sitting out in the sage in western Wyo

Seems like AZ was the only place Patrols were sold. I know there was one over here near Palm Coast and one up north, but it always seems AZ is where they all are.

It is simply really. They came from Japan so there is more on the west coast. Same with old Rovers, they came from Europe so more on the east coast. Also Patrols were most popular and sold best where Ford, Chevy, Jeep and International were not strong. I know for a fact it was very hard to get them east of South Dakota and a dealer in Sioux Falls was the farthest east that stocked them. I have a 1960's brochure with all USA dealers in 66 or 67. There were only 2 in Wyoming, 2 in South Dakota, 3-4 in Montana and Nevada, 6-8 in Colorado, New Mexico and Washington, 10-15 in Arizona, 20 or so in Oregon and by far the most is in California at about 50 or more dealers. So most of your Patrols are going to be in or around these states. A Florida Patrol has most definately been shipped or driven there by an owner at some time. Also I have found this brochure great as when Patrol hunting the best places to look are within 100 miles of the original dealers. Most of these rigs or at least half still remain within 100 miles of the dealer it was sold at 40 years ago....this may not be true with California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado or Arizona but on average it is correct. Your Patrols in and around Reno were sold there and so forth.

This is the 66 KL60 I found about 100 miles from me. You can see the top has surface rust that is getting deeper as it been sitting out in the weather for many years. The top was once white and rest is stock color. It is missing hardware on hood but has not a single dent! It has a small bit of rust in the typical spot on the back and around seat belt mounts which is very common. Other wise only rust is what you see. It is very complete and has 66k orginal miles. To bad the chrome hub haps not there! The motor looks good for original and looks like it will run. The tranny was sticky and seemed froze up till I played with it then it shifted well. Same with Transfer. Speedo is stuck on 20 mph and suspension is shot as in bushings toasted and leafs sagging. Can you tell I like this truck!? May try to get it in the future as I hate to see it rot away...

Save it!

More patrols out west - even more simple - they don't rot away out here.

jm.. I've got a hardtop for my '66 sitting at the house here... It has good glass, the upper rear door inserts, the front door frames and everything. The rubber is on it is toasted, but the glass is all good at least. It needs the roof rack cut off it if you dont want it but its all there. I can cut the roofrack off and smooth it down to a stock look if you want. The top is white and in OK shape for sitting outside for a while.

I'll never use it on my patrol or have any need for it. Make me an offer and its yours. I just want it out of the yard. Its torn down into sections. I may even have all the bolts in a parts box to put it back together as it came with a bunch of bolts and whatnot

If you want to check it out, let me know.

Smile

I'll take it. I'm sure we can work out a price for the top. If the roof rack is structurely OK than keep it on. I don't care too much about factory appearances and I can always use a place to secure gear during next years AZ run. My wife is taking an LSAT class in PHX every Wed and Sat starting in a few weeks or so. I will come down some day first to look at it, (try to convince you that you want to weld up rock sliders for me Wink) and then some sat moring I'll drive the Patrol down grab the top and spend a weekend off-roading.
