Might be a while...we were planning on heading to Thermopolis for Xmas, but the inlaws decided they'd rather come to Arizona in December (can't imagine WHY Roll Eyes)

Maybe next summer.

DR, no worries on when as I am not going anywhere for awhile. Will be right here in Wyo for the forseeable future. I would really like to get together with some people up around Cody sometime as I was really impressed by the country I saw up there. If you know the are would be great to do some wheeling there in the future....how about we leave it at an open invite. Never know, I may make it to Arizona with a truck some time too...

yeayea...it is just a C303. It is top heavy compared to the Pinz and I got 2 more wheels driving me Razz That thing will flex a bit better but it is hard to say if it would out do the Pinz. Definately a cool truck though and very rare in the USA, if you like that visit Vinces site at www.real4x4.com as he probaly imported that one. I want the axles out of it so I can drop them under a Patrol. The conversion is done all the time to Rovers and I think I could get a set of them under a Patrol. There are a lot of C303's in Maklaysia as their military used them. Axles run me $2500 plus shipping for a set from there. This is a 1.5 or 2 ton axle that is leaf sprung and better suited for mods then Mog axles. They are Portals as you can see and I hear they never never break, like the truck dies long before the diffs and axle that is why there are so many diffs/axles for sale unlike the trucks. Big Grin

dude...do you think I drove the Pinz home?? Transpo companies hadle delivery to your door...It is a hell of a rig and with some paint will be the talk of Sacto! If you can afford it man do it as you will not regret it. Also if you seriously looking at a C303 a guy in Denver sells them but I think they start at $12k for ones not near as clean as the ebay one. By those pics it looks really clean and stock. BTW, did you check out Vinces red one on his site!? Pretty sweet...

The price on the axles was without shipping..it is Malaysia and the exchange rate is great. I was quoted at $2400 for a set of 5 Simex Extreme Trekkers from the UK with 5 day air freight. I guy in Malaysia has sourced me the same tire for $700 plus shipping for a set of five. So it is all about where you shop I guess Wink

now picture that rig with those C303 diffs! Big Grin Here is an email I got from a friend in Malaysia who ownes a C304 and know a lot about them, I sent him picture from book of the tranny/transfer in a Patrol.

quote:
Ian,

From your manual, it looks like the front and rear outputs from the transfer case are BOT on the right side. Perfect for the Volvo axles!

On the 304, the front axle is spring under, and on the rear axle its spring over. What they do for the Landys here is make the rear spring under as well to prevent axle wrap. On the C304's rear, axle wrap is not a problem because the also have torque rods from the axle to the chassis.

I'll upload a few more photos to the yahoo group in a while so you'll have a better idea.

Keep in mind that the final drive ratio for the Volvo portals are 5.9:1 or 7.09:1 depending on which set you wanna get. So your entire transmission will be under very little strain compared to stock axles. Highway speed will suck though!
