who needs meats when you have XZL's!? Just kidding.... Wink

Hold on to your seats Patrol lovers...here comes the picture spam! smiley4

rear tire here is chest high off ground and I am 5'11" tall Big Grin

can you believe the only thing that contacted the ground in all this was rubber and the front bumper barely touched here...it is all where you point the rig! Wink

great flex seen in this pc, all 4 on the ground still Roll Eyes

looking mean with the XZL's and powder coater rims....wheel detail goes a long ways. If you wondering where my weigths are I had them mounted to back of rim to keep it clean looking.

now this is sketchy, big time! My approuch is via the log, I ride it for 15 feet before getting up the bank to here. The truck is very tipsy here but when it tips it stops. Check the front tire and the contact on the 2 rears! Way out there, really need roll bar for this Eek

looks good doesn't it Big Grin

the stickers is from ebay, for a fart can car. I cut the rest of the tribal stuff off it and used the center, I like it too Wink cost:$8

Actually the tank never touches that I could tell, it came very close more than once. Like less than an inch close but not a touch. The front bumper touched in one spot and can be seen in the pic. I got out many times to shoot pics and check the rig out...I was suprised nothing touched either including the diffs. Also the steering never touches neither does the side steps. I hit the cross member once! After doing this for 45 mins or so I started blowing oil and it burned off my exhuast maifold as can be seen in few of the pics. The tank does touch at times but it seems to be on very steep hills not lines like these...I hit it in river few times too. The skid mount is gay, bolts on bottom, duh! And it would get trashed fast in big rocks...it needs to be fixed but is doing me well for now. I drag it in the dirt from time to time but amzingly do not think it touched once today...all in my lines I guess. How bout I ship it to ya man and you can mod it for me!? Chug

The truck is for sale if you want to have this much fun just contact me Razz

yea I like it too...do not really want to sell it but one truck should go and I need cash. In meantime I am going to keep working on it, Weber carb mod on the way now, seats going in tomorrow and winch gets new cable tomorrow too. After that I want to get new exhaust and probabaly replace alt this week as it seems dead. If it around in a month will have custom winch bumper made and PTO box plus winch rebuilt. really looking forward to the Weber, I asked him about jetting it for my altitude and he said it all in the fuel regulator system. Sounds like idle and mixture done right in the regulator and it sounds pretty trick!

The red one will get worked on next as I have a new Nissan Alt and clutch ready to drop in it. Also it will get all new suspension, brakes and steering rebuilt with brand new parts. That is all I have planed for the red one right now but the way I do things it will more than likely get more Wink

I think the 64 ragtop will be my favorite when done...right now it is stripped to the frame. It will get a lift kit, the other PTO winch I have and a H260 read diff with detroit locker. Either going to put these XZL's on it or some Simex ET's I am getting. Hate to say it but I know it will be at least a year before the 64 ragtop is on the road.

In the meantime this blue 64 is plenty fun Big Grin

Ok guys...need some tech advice.

While way off camber yesterday I started blowing oil, it got bad and I lost at least a quart maybe closer to two. After checking it out today it seems that it is blowing it off the head between cylinder and block. Also may be coming out around manifolds. So what would cause this?? It was fine before I started playing on 3 wheels and was fine for 45 mins while doing it. It is a big mess so hard to tell exactly where it coming from but I am pretty sure it is the head and manifolds but only on the RHS of motor. I was going to get a top end kit now and have it rebuilt while replacing gaskets. Is there some reason the old inline P engine would not like being run at tilts? The prob seemed to start only after the front RHS wheel had been lowest for awhile. Could the thinner Amsoil just found the leaks? Could the new oil pump be pushing way to much pressure, it seems fine but I am confused. Also Alternator seems shot, going to Napa now to see about new one. Was wondering if I should check the voltage regulator or ballast as the ALT seemed great before I worked on the truck..??

any help be great...thanks!

That's a stumper. Almost acts as if it's overfull with oil and it's being pressured up into the cylinders, but that doesn't seem right.

If it was a head gasket, you'd be getting water in the oil - have you checked for that? Do you have an oil pressure guage?

Stupid question, but it's not coming out the cap or the breather, is it? How about through the distributor hole?

the charging prob should be fixed as I just picked up new ALT and voltage regulator, will install tomorrow.

I have no idea on the head...vibrated some bolts loose? No water in the oil and it was not over full, a touch under if anything. It is definately coming off the head between it and block, hard to tell if it coming off the manifolds too but it looks like it is. Almost bubbling out or spitting out in these spots. Distro is on the other side of the motor where there are no problems. Could blowing my intake/exhaust manifold gaskets and the head gasket cause this?? I don't get it, why would running the motor at a tilt do this...? Valve cover is clean and the gasket seems to be holding fine, it is new. Nothing is coing from breather or the cap. The oil pressure gauge works once in a while but lately when working it shows perfect pressure, I do not think this an oil pressure issue but I do not know. One odd thing is when this motor sits not running for long time it will start leaking coolant, and a lot of it. The coolant leaks seem to be around head and block connection, and on the cover plate on LHS of block plus at the rear of motor. Yet run it once a week and get it hot and you never see a drop of coolant anywhere, dunno if this has anything to do with the new large oil leaks. I have all the gaskets but figure if it going to get the head removed might as well buy the $350 top end rebuild kit and just do it. Anyone have any ideas as I hate to fix one thing only to have to go back and fix it again or fix the new problem I caused. I could probaly take a few good clear shots of the motor and leaks fromed while on 3 wheels.

new oil pump will do this.. my old L16 in my 510 did this when I fitted a high pressure turbo 6 cyl pump.. it was a BAD idea.. went through lots of headgaskets when the oil found its way into the water.

My 510 always had a tendency to seep oil out between the head and block. Most of the old Nissan I4 and 6 engines seemed to do this. My old Zs all had seeping oil leaks between the block and head. As long as it wasnt pouring out, its fine.. I had to clean the engine bay really good every couple months.

Get yourself an aftermarket guage pod. It will give you a definite pressure in PSI and KPA. Plus, those old voltometers like to catch fire! Red Face

Yea I seen old Patrols with the head seeping prob and also other old Datusn, 510's mostly. This is new on this motor though. I also started at a specific time doing specific things. I was looking closly at it again tonight and while reving the engine you can literly see oil bubbling out the front of the head. I was thinking maybe I got it very hot and warped the head since the temp gauge doesn't work. Yet, this doesn't make sense as it blew zero coolant, it's full and I know it is circulating. Plus the motor was just idling not reved or worked hard when it started leaking. I think I will go ahead and order top end kit and have the head checked when I do it to see if it is warped. You can always shave it to fix this right?? Like I say I know about the light seepage on old Datsun and not worried about this but I blew near two quarts out my head and it is not just seeping. There was not a single drop of oil leaking here before I whent wheeling on Sunday. The new oil pump is standard Nissan and is NOS Patrol stock, nothing high pressure about it just stock unit. I was just wondering if installed wrong could do something like this? I know I put it in right as I followed the manual and it very simple but no clue why I would spring such a big leak so fast!? The red 66 is this way and it is no worries, motor only has 40k miles but like I say I got a bigger leak(s). Any ways, I wonder whtf made this happen so fast and why when I was on 3 wheels....fixing it is not the big problem. Understanding the cause is...

Jon, I wanted to stay with stock gauge but on this truck would not mind a nice pod. Have you found one that fits with out cutting dash? A good stock cluster hard to find and may only have one spare so who has used a aftermarket pod? How did it fit and how was wiring it up?? I'll try and check out the tach on my 66 as you wanted to know about it Jon....it should be simple.
