Hey I'm stoked by those upper Ajax pics. Let's get started on the Patrol! We need to find the right salvage vehicle. Ideally it will have an FI 302 (or better yet a 351!) and power steering. I'm also willing to invest in crawler gears for the Tcase and an ARB for the rear if it's available. Whadda ya say?

I dont think there are gears for the 205, but there are lots of other options:

- fit a Klune reduction box
- put in an Atlas case.
- put in a 203 with adapter to mate to the 205.. So we'd get the advantage of dual cases.

Other things to do:

- twin stick the 205.. allows independant selection of front, rear, or 4 wheel drive in either high or low range.

The rear axle needs to be moved back about 1-1.5ft on the patrol anyway (90" wheelbase is scary), so that would work pretty well to allow room in the drivetrain to fit another case or reduction box, or whatever. A longer rear driveshaft would be nice too. The one in there has a CV conversion and a decent slip joint, but the entire shaft is only about 15" long.

BTW, the patrol is already locked in the rear.. it has a lockright. If you want to get serious, some OX lockers would be the way to go. Smile

Just my opinion, but here's what I think:

Locker/Lockright/Detroit for the front $400
FI302 setback a little bit to give it a bit more room for a fan $500
Taurus fan $50
Aluminum Race radiator $200
Triangulated 4 link in the rear (Extend WB 1-1.5ft) $500-700
NP203 to NP205 doubler $600
Twinstick NP205 $10
Linelock $50

Then boom, yer set. Smile hehe

I'd say if you drop about 3 grand into it, you'd be MORE than ready to go. That thing better be ready to go by AZ Run 4...

I completely forgot about the lockrite in the rear. First priority is power steering, then here's how I would prioritize Mikey's suggestions (all good by the way):

1. Aluminum Race radiator $200
2. Twinstick NP205 $10
3. Linelock $50
4. Taurus fan $50
5. Triangulated 4 link in the rear (Extend WB 1-1.5ft) $500-700
6. Locker/Lockright/Detroit for the front $400
7. NP203 to NP205 doubler $600
8. FI302 setback a little bit to give it a bit more room for a fan $500

What're we gonna need? Plasma cutter? 220v welder? Get my Z out of your garage? We can do the first 4 things for a couple hundred and for under $1K we can triangulate the rear. I want to go rockcrawling!

I'd like to be, but I have to work a late shift Firday night, then an early on Monday morning. Takes a lot out of an old man and I need most of the weekend to recover. I really do need to get down to John's and bring my Z back to Cottonweed. I've found all kind of twisty roads to go fast on up here. smiley2
