my weekend started Friday picking up a lift kit in SLC. Today began fitting the kit. it is a Pedders that was made for me, or something like that. It is a 6 pack in front and rear. Looks like some quality stuff. Haven't got to fitting the leafs yet as today I rebuilt the steering system instead and fit the shocks. I could not believe the condition of the steering parts in the red 66 with 40k miles, looked like the truck has only done 10k miles...nearly new! I replaced it all anyways. The steering damper is buff and fits prefect. Shocks are huge, wouldn't fit with the front sway bar in as they are to thick. Has any one ever heard of or used foam core shocks? These going on the red 66 are cellular foam core shocks and are massive. The definately will perform different than gas...

Should have the kit all fitted by tomorrow...will report on it's quality and ride.

Sounds awesome! I didnt think you were going to lift Togo, though? I thought it was going to be your perfectly stock one...

Is it a 6-leaf, or 6" pack?

Oh yeah, and I just figured out why your sig pic aint showing up...

type this in for your sig, and take out the spaces before and after the IMG/IMG:

And you might want to resize that pic, too. Its friggin huge... lol

don't really care about the sig...was screwing around late night and been to lazy to remove it Roll Eyes

I can fix most anything on a P-troll but computers....bah!

The lift is a 6 pack of springs, lift should be in the 3" range. I was not going to lift it. Yet, can't get new front leafs from Nissan or any stock leafs new. So what are my choices, re-arching which I think sucks or lift it, leafs are just about as bad. The suspension on it is shot. Shocks are 40 year old Nissans, they so bad had to cut them out. Lift is here and is quality, 3" is small. I am going to sell it sooner or later so with lift people more inclided to buy it. Not very many Datsun collectors around who are into P-trolls you know.

Ohhh! Form follows function. I can see where that big ole plow would weigh the front end down alot...

new steering parts. Lift kit being fitted. Not done yet obviously but I am digging this kit...

The plow did weigh it down a lot in front, plow frame ruined my ground clearance too. Frame is off the truck. The old leafs were very flat but the bushings in them looked new, so did the steering parts, next to no wear on them.

heh...it really is a gem, one of a kind truck. The knuckle flanges bit dirty but wear in them seems next to none. I am rebuilding them though and will clean and paint. New hubs I think also in some very expensive Aussie ones. Front diff cover will get cleaned and painted red, new bolts here too. Will be deatiling under side in red and black. Brakes to rebuild on it, fit a alternator (it still has generator!), fix few oil leaks, new exhaust and a new clutch. That about all it needs to be perfect. The underside of the truck has a mixutre of stock undercoating paint, then layer upon layers of undercoating, some funky road tar type oil based stuff too. It is any where from 1/2" to 1" think on the under side of this rig! The protection from it is excellent though and where I peaked under the funk it is like brand new steel. It also makes the truck very quiet espcially on gravel. I am really into this lift and itching to test drive the truck...

well...I can't tell you or post what I am paying for the kit. That is bad business Razz

They are expensive, with all the fees it adds up, shipping by boat is not that cheap either. My two suppliers are Dobinsons and Direct Suspension. Direct products have not been tested but I am confident they good, should have a kit of theirs in January. The Pedders I got to try it out...once I found out some things about them I think the other two are the better bet. Although I am digging the Pedders a lot, just no test out the shop yet.

I am working on getting the price down on these kits. This is dependant on sales of their products, more I sell the cheaper I get them for thus I can give my break in price to the customers. This the way it goes when you don't step up to the plate and buy $20k+ in stuff from these guys....time is on my side Wink

Lift on both kits is at 3". Both trucks had bad leafs, although the blue 64 had new Nissan rears on it. Any ways, you may get 3" on a truck like yours Jon or a truck with good springs might be less. i can say this...I was expecting certian things on the blue 64 after the lift. Such as worse road handling with sway bars out, nope it handles just like they in there. I also expected the springs to be stiff as on the blue 64 it is an HD kit...nope not the case, they flex as much or more than Nissan stuff.

It costs a lot of money to get the kit I know...but man if you could ride in my trucks would see it worth it. These trucks ride as good or better than my 2001 Chevy HD.

Well, I think I will just wait for the prices to go down... Till then, Ill just make a junkyard spring pack... Wink

Keeping the old leafs, of course. I like to be able to reverse everything I do..
