Ok I recently got my Patrol's leafs rearched and put an extra stiff leaf in each. Now the truck is much stiffer and I picked up 2-3 inches. Any of you guys with the original set up would see these long bolt type things that act as a secondary bump stop. What they do now is really cut down my axle articulation. My question is can I remove these (and maybe) my sway bars (at least the front) without getting axle wrap? I mean it is not like I have 300+ hp and a lead foot with the Patrol. So shouldn't my leafs be strong enough to prvent axle wrap? I would include a photo, but I just got my digital camera last night so it may still be awhile until I have it up and going.

oh yeah you can remove the sway bars and not get axle wrap, actually I just put some wing nuts on mine. That way I can disconnect the sway bars when I wheel

I'll have to look on my Patrol to see if I can see what you are talking about.

If you have problems with axle wrap, consider installing a ladder bar:

That is the exact arrangement that my Patrol has.. It works very well.

Jason,

I don't think it would be a problem until you brake real hard. The limiting rods keep it from axle wraping in combination with the sway bars and bump stops, it all works together. I do believe the design came to keep things in together while under haevy braking or under extreme cornering. Cheapest and easiest fix seems to just get some longer limiting rods made for the front as they are only on the front.

Sacto, I really like the idea of being able to remove the sway bars to wheel. Could you muster up a picture of how you did yours?? A wing nut sounds cool if you can lock it in with a cotter pin....

I will post a pic soon, were moving this weekend so might take me some time to get to it. I don't have a cotter pin on it, although it hasn't moved at all
