First can anybody share any info about swapping a chevy 250 I-6, its a lighter engine with more power or should I stick with nissan.
Second does anybody know of any new or used sheetmetal I.E. what I really need is both front fenders for a 69. I saw that someone had some sheetmetal, I have no problem welding in metal just no tools currently to bend anything to form the fender bends. Also trying to get a line on front seats and one rear jump seat. And finally I need window rubber. One last thing what has everybody done for exhuast systems? Thanks For Your Time |

I have spare 69 fenders...not in best shape but they do live. I also have spare seats that need to be recovered. Yet, shipping will be a pain and I am not dieing to sell it. So I suggest you find something close enough that you can drive and get it or find a guy with lot's of Patrol parts and have him ship it to ya'. Swap the engine out if you like...many have been put in the old 60 series Patrol. It will only be worth so much without the stock engine though. If it has stock engine it will be worth more $$ down the road. Exhuast is same deal...put on whatever will work and suit you. Try to find something that matches the stock engine if that is what you need it for, ie a 242ci motor. Windshield rubber gasket can be bought from a guy in OZ, his name is Scott. Here is his webby www.scottsoldautorubber.com I have bought from him and it is a new gasket plus he has some weather stripping that fits a Patrol nicely. Good luck!

If you can stick with the old P40, dont even look at the 250 other than for a source of a few odd parts. Are your whole front fenders gone? OR are they rusted out, right where the mirrors were? If so, Im working on getting some weld-in patches. I might be able to hook you up.
What do you have as far as front seats? Ive been eyeballing mid-90's Ford Exploders for their rear bench setup. They have 30/70 split benches like our Patrols do, and my guess is, they will be the same width. I have one rear jump seat in my Patrol, too. Not sure what happened to the other. Im trying to decide on whether I want to try to hunt for another rear jump seat, or replace them with two jump seats out of a Jeep CJ, or something. There is no room to run exhaust inside of the frame. A base model Patrol had the exhaust coming off the manifold, under the frame rail, and exiting right behind the front passenger side wheel. Rear-exiting exhaust was a factory option. The exhaust would then run under the passenger side floorboard, over the frame rail just inside the rear passenger side wheel well, under the minibed floorboard, over the driveshaft, over the other frame rail on the drivers side, and dumping out right to the left of the gas tank. Yeah, you know that had to cause a few vapor lock problems. I am thinking I want to keep the stock drive train it just really sucks on the freeway can only do about 55 right now want to at least get her runnning up to 65.
For the fenders yes its the normal rust on the middle and were the vent is, I would really ! be interested in some patch pannels let me know if anything comes of that. I am thinking I want to find a stock front seat and a stock rear jump seat, actually I have the back I just need the bottom and the hardware. Fudd I appreciate the offer on the seats but I think the shipping would not make it worth it, don't know I will check into that. For exhuast I want some thing quite I mean it doesn't have to be super quite, just no glass packs or Flows. Fudd Thank you for the link on the window rubber appreciate it. Jon the seats currently in their are from a desk chair so I need something BAD!!! But on a more personal note I have family from comanche and I was orginally born and raised in Tahlequah. Oh and Thanks Again for all the information |

Stick around - N4W is really the only Nissan board in the US with regular Patrol discussion. The 5-6 of you out there with Patrols (especially Fudd) really bring a lot to this site!

Could you get me some pics of where the rust is? Dont really know what to tell you as far as seats besides the exploder ones...
Patrol's will prolly never be quiet, unless if you install a totally non-stock drivetrain. Im fixing to remove most of my exhaust behind that passenger side wheel, and see how it sounds... do you still have the rails that seats sat on, that made them fold forward? If so, that would definitely help. Who is your family in Comanche? I might know them... I only have the top rails not the bottom for the backseat, unfortuntly because I could build the bottom of the seat.
Yvonne Smith and Wes Smith are my family from there. I will snap a pic tonight of the rust. |

Hey...if you are going for totally stock and an original look plus rebuild then stock seats great. Yet...otherwise they suck, not comfortable and short. Lot's of options really when it comes to seats that are not stock....you can have brackets or frames made fairly easily. You could even go as far as having stock seats with a good after market that bolts on the stock slider. For show run the stock seats and for play put in the buckets. Also a good shoulder harness belt will be good. The steering colume is not colapsable in an old P-troll and I would not want my chest to impact that wheel.
My red 66 is not loud at all. It does not have the typical body rattles. Everything on it is tight...the trans and tranny do not whind out much until about 60mph. The engine runs smooth and quiet. It does have insulation under stock mats and all the door pannels are on it. It has a stock exhuast that has been worked on several times. But the exhuast is tight and exits the rear...she is quiet like I say, about like my 2001 Chevy HD. |

oh yea...to DR,
I only bring knowledge to this site. I am just a Patrol tweeker...just like the 510 or Z car tweekers I used to know as a kid. I get going on Patrols and I tweek...LOL. I am not good at wrenching at all, like I say I just know a lot about Patrols. What makes this site so good to me is it's members. Everyone here is real laid back and easy going. People are intrested in Nissan here and many like the old Patrol that I love so much. People around here are very eager to offer help or advice, everyone brings a lot to this site most of all the people who make it possible! |

Yvonne and Wes smith? hmm... sounds somewhat familiar, but I just cant put face to name...
I need to get those rusted areas cut out of my fenders, so that I will have something to compare the patches to... Ill warn ya though, this wont be like in the next few days... but I should have the patches before the end of this year. I can pretty much guarantee that... I'd swap out that drivetrain if you want to get goin' to freeway speeds... Maybe consider a 4.3/700r4/toyota landcruiser Tcase... It's got the outputs where you need them, and you'll be able to get good gasmileage with the r4's OD, and you'll have plenty of power out of the 4.3. Of course, if you want to keep the stock drivetrain, then the Patrol guys know what's up..

I know that this might sound a little crazy but I am not fan of the 4.3 in my opion there just not realible. Maybe I'll put a 22re in there with cruiser axles and T-case?
Don't know for sure yet. Matters what I can get for the price and of course there is always the free stock drive train Other topic anybody know anything about these seats? They sure look nice |

Jon,
I am in no real hurry so let me know what happens with the panels. I think I am going to fix the flat piece next to the vent with some straight patch panels from J.C. |
