i added a few more pics of the work going on with my 64...over at the NPCA site. yeayea, I am a dummy on pc's or i would just post them here.

I got some Rancho 5000's and a new stablizer shock so just about there with the current plans i had for this one. By late next week i should having it back on the road, can't wait to see how it will ride!!

I did learn a lesson with the tank, have it made wider insted of deeper...kinda a duh thing. Yet, once this project done I still think I will be happy with the tank. Plus it should not sit so low once all new suspension in...maybe some 8.25 XZL or XL on the way too!! Smile

Looks great, man. I also like the blue and like the way it looks without the top and doors.

ok man...how did you get my photo here?? I know you can paste url to get pics here but the ones at NPCA has bunch of bs on same page....be cool if I could show off my own rigs here.

That pic is from be4 all the work started so it is sitting fairly low with flat springs. I will take one in same spot after it is back together to see how much the new suspension has raised it. I am trying to be optimistic about the tank untill it is back together...this way I am not upset before it is all back together. If it still sits to low for my liking I plan on having it cut and rewelded. smiley35

Oops! Live and learn. Wink
To get the image URL in Netscape I just right-clicked on the pic and copied image location then pasted it into the tag here.
In IE you can right-click on the pic and choose "properties" and copy the pic url from there.

I hate you. Smile Wyoming is sounding really good now since we're looking at 115 degree heat this week.

I don't miss the Wyoming winters tho. Guess there's a tradeoff to everything.

well, we are in the 80's most of the time these days...some 70's and hardly ever anything over 90. Makes for swimming in the lakes and rivers a bummer...too damn cold! And yea it gets butt ass cold here from November to March.

About my 64...Just about done just need my rear Ranchos in and a good tune! I am starting to dislike my tank...go figure. The bolts on the bottem is BS for they will get ripped off fast. I told the dudes to make the skid plate wrap around and bolt from the side. I also told them to make it 3-4" deeper and they went 6" deeper. Plus no drain like the old tank....so I am planning now on having it cut shorter and fix the skid plate at the least. I may extend it to the drivers side if they will do it for decent cost...I already got to much in the damn tank already but not 100% happy with it and for the price I should be stoked on it.

Lesson learned: Take rig not just tank to the welder, plan it more in detail insted of just saying "replicate the old one but larger.." and if unhappy get the damn thing fixed!!

cool...not that hard even for a dumb hick in wyoming! smiley2

The new Nissan stock rear leafs are in. The Ranchos didn't fit right so sent back for some different ones. The Nissan leafs feel sweet and give more hiegth than the re-arced fronts. These tires are 32" tall and it sit's real nice in the rear for no lift. The stainless tank obviously is sitting a bit friggin' low...as one friend of mine put it "man that thing sucks!" LOL...I gained at least 2" in lift with the new springs maybe slightly more and the tank is at 13" from the floor. The bolts for the skid late are lame and they were supposed to have the skid wrap around the tank and bolt from the side. So if they will be cool and work with me I want the skid fixed then tank shortened to just below the mounting brackets and then expanded to the drives side maybe 8". I am willing to pay them but not a lot so hope the fix it at reasonable cost. I also want a drain in it like the old stock one. I did run all new stainless braided fuel lines, new fuel filter but she still needs a tune.

Here is the front end....

I got a heavy duty generic stabalizer and the fronts springs are re-arced. Only got about 1-maybe-2" lift in the front end and doesn't feel as nice as the rears but it still feels good and flexiable...plus solid. Same deal with shocks for the front, waiting. I went through the brakes last year and they are solid plus brand new pads on the e-brake. So after the shocks and a good tune this rig is ready to wheel...hope I don't destroy the tank first day! J/K...they are fixin' the damn tank!! smiley48

Overall the rig sit's nice on the new suspension...slightly lifted in rear from front as should be for stock. I will have it out wheeling by monday and will shoot some good pics of it then. After a few days of fun back to have tank re-worked.... smiley35

I was wondering...these tires are 9.0x16's and measure 9" from sidewall to sidewall not tread to tread plus they are 32" tall. Is there any way to measure and see what is largest that will fit with out rubbing...like an accurate way?? These tires do not rub and still seem like I could go larger without rubbing. I can't go any wider than 9.5" with the uncut rear wheel wells. Plus I do not want to rub under extreme flex. I know the 9.00x16 XZL will rub cause it is 36.5" tall!! So is there a formula or point to measure from??
