Hey guys,

I have had a hard week. You know that pathy in my profile pic? Yea the really big one that I had just finished building? Yea some little 17 year old jerk off desided he wanted to pic a fight with it smiley6. Needless to say after hitting the car, flying 20 feet into the air, through a telephone pole, and landing on my roof the pathy is done. The front axle got riped out, the roof crushed in, and all around totalled.

That being said I am now looking for a Patrol. I am not spending the time to build another Pathy. I cant seem to find any that are already state side. Do any of you know what I have to do to get one from like Australia? I have a friend there, Matt Beer, and sence our money is worth about doubble theirs I figure that would be a good deal.

1)Lift kits where can I buy them? How tall do they go?

2)What is the difference between GU, GQ, and MQ?

3) What years have the most options? I am talking low crawl gears, lockers, axel upgrades, ect. I want this thing to be hard core.

Thanks for the insight guys. If you would like to see pics of the pathy go to the 4x4parts.com BB and look under South East Nissans.

Jeb, first, let me say we're all glad you survived that crash in one piece.

Second, are you after a late model Patrol, or one of the old ones (62-69) that were imported to this country? If you're after an old one, a member of this board, Fudd, is probably the most knowledgable guy we've come across with regard to old Patrols.

On the new ones, BART may be able to get you info on European spec Patrols. As for the Aussie ones, there are a number of Australian websites that cater to Patrols and Cruisers that might be helpful. Try some search engines.

What I do know about current Patrols is this:

HB265 rear axles
HB233 front axles, passenger side diff
Available factory lockers
Available Tcase gears from Rockhopper (in Australia anyway)
Available I6 gas and diesel engines
2 door SWB, 4 door LWB and pickup configurations availalble

Importing one from Australia and getting it registered in this country is an expensive and bureaucratic mess, as I understand it.

Aussie ones will be right hand drive. European ones will be left hand drive (except UK)

This is a start. I'm sure others will chime in with more info.

BTW, is your buddy with the Rover still making the NM / AZ trip later this month? How 'bout you? We were REALLY looking foward to seeing your Pathy in action too Frown

I hope that some guys can give me some more info. From what I understand to get a Patrol here I will have to get one, take the motor out, have the car and the motor shipped over sepratly as "Parts". When they get here I can put the two together and zoom.

I am not aposed to getting one that is here, but I cant seem to find any.

Hey guys I found me a Patrol. Oscar (help me on spelling) has a 1965 Patrol that I am looking very hard at getting. He is going to send me some pics of it. I am looking forward to hitting the trail again. Does anyone know if there are any companys that offer stuff for the old Patrols... you know around the 65 years?

Nope, as far as I know, there is no aftermarket for the old Patrols. They are just too rare. Most people have never seen one. If any companies make parts for them, they are few and far between.

With the Patrols, you pretty much have to fab up anything you need for them.. Check with Fudd to see what kinds of parts ARE available from Nissan. Some parts are, but most arent available anymore. If you want to lift them, it basically comes down to taking measurements and seeing if parts from other vehicles will work on them (like springs, shackles, etc).

If you find a junker, consider putting the axles from the Pathy under it.. Patrol axles are very weak, and they can break if you wheel it hard. Smile

Man that is really a bummer on the pathy. Makes me wonder if there is a curse on SAS pathys. I do not know of one that is currently operational.

So I take it AZ run is out of thpicture for you and your buddy huh? That is really too bad. Well there is always next year. Hope all goes well with the new project.

For Crist's sake, just buy a Lancruiser and be done with it! Huge aftermarket following in THIS country, many many owners with all sorts of mods, just as good as anything Nissan makes, and easy as heck to find a cool one. Or how about a nice American brand, my old Bronco would spit fire and 4 wheel like crazy and that was 17 years ago, now, the aftermarket for them is incredible! If you must have a Nissan, you are a glutten for punishment or just love to custom make everything. Ok, let the bashing begin! smiley12
