I'm the proud new owner of 1969 Patrol that is well on its way to being in great condition but I am having some (a lot) finding shocks that fit. I have no desire to add a lift and I'm trying to stay close to stock. Anyone know what brand and model that I need to locate?

Thanks,

procomp or rancho. measure the size you need and order accordingly. When reading the specs look at the compressed length and extended length. At ride height you'll want the shock extended about 3-5" from full compression.

I have gone thru procomp, rancho, AC Delco and Monroe and none of them have anything close. It is a very short shock approx. 11.5" compressed and 19" extended. Nobody was within 2" of the compressed measurement. The shocks are threaded stems on both ends. Appreciate the info.

wow I've never seen threaded stems on both ends. Yea non of the major suspension manufactures I know of offer shocks like that. Is there any way for you to change the shock tabs to some new updated eyelet ones?

I guess that I'll just raise it up a couple inches and then there are several different shocks available. And thus begins the journey from stock to mudder. Welder

Renelms,

Dihatsu Rocky front shocks work perfect. The best available is KYB-but spendy

Good luck

I had Rancho 5000s on my 64 Patrol. Granted I had a 2" lift on the truck too....but the Ranchos bolted right in with zero mods. We simply found the right configuration for the shock mounts and length wasn't a problem.

I don't seem to have pictures of the truck on the net anymore or I would post them!

I ended up going with the KYB that fit the Diahatsu Rocky, only because I'm trying to keep it very close to original, at least for now. The only other shocks I found were Tough Dogs and they wanted 125.00 each plus shipping. Appreciate the help.
