Welcome to the forum bud!

I say stop thinking about it and run on over and get it before some other guy does! I just picked up an 83 Patrol, not many in USA, and he took less than he was asking so offer him less but take all that he wants so it yours no matter what. For a really fun truck you can lift it easy, put lockers in both diffs and some big meats. Quite the capable truck and built to take the abuse. A winch and rack on top also make it ready for what ever. You can ever get all kinds of after market stuff for it in Australia such as snorkels, storage systems, lift kits and more.

For manuals try ebay, search Nissan Patrol in all catagories. I see them on this model all the time. Just keep looking over a 2 week period, I see them in Europe most often too, or Australia. If that dead ends let me know as I have sources for the manuals...

That thing is rad, buy it like I say! Some time, money and work and it will be very cool and serve you well for many years.

DR, if you take a look at that Patrol from the rear, you will see that it looks alot less like an XJ. From that angle, it does look similar, but once you get side and rear views of both of the, the difference is enormous...

Did i spot a Rangey photo on that main page?

Yeah, that's my friend Tim's Rover:

Not to get too far off topic but some of you might be familiar with his "Unissamog" project - a Nissan Hardbody motor, cab & bed on a Unimog 404 chassis, driveline, etc...

Yeah i see the resemblance DES. I had a 4.0 ltr XJ last year, with a 3.5" lift. They dont have much room inside the cabin.

DR, I think it's been stalled for awhile due to lack of funds and then lack of time. Last I talked to him he was getting his garage ready for heat/light to resume building. I've been planning on swinging by there sometime soon and will try to bring my camera.

Packman, you're mostly right, he's also using the Nissan engine with a custom adaptor. Here's a link to his site:
Unissamog

Ian, A Patrol with any kind of Portal axles sounds pretty nice.
