We had a big storm come through Thursday that left 2-3" of snow on the valley floor. It was pretty much melted by yesterday but man were the trails slick. At one point I slid off the road and got stuck in some deep slop. I was working the Patrol out of the bog and to my suprise it was actually pulling it's self out of the hole. But along came some hunters who gave me a tug out. Needless to say I was pretty amazed at what this old Nissan was driving up, over and through.

I love my P-troll! smiley4

Me too....for a totally stock truck it is pretty awesome. I love it so much sometimes I just stare at it for long periods of time. smiley4

With a bit of lift, some lockers and some more flex it will be a very capable truck.

Sweet rig, sweet views, not a bad weekend, hey?

I love the crazy thick mud on those tires in a few of the shots.

Take it easy,

Jason

So why not lifting your Patrol with an OME lift kit ? The guys of ARB (USA) have those kits in USA in stock. The reason ? ARB USA is the source for ARB parts for Central and South America and they have Patrol lift kits there. In fact, my 2000 Patrol GU's 4" lift kit came from the USA.

Well not lifting it right now because other things need attention. Such as the motor, front locker and the 5spd tranny fitted. Plus when I do lift it I want to go SoA so I see buying springs, shocks, ect a waste of cash if it won't be used in the future.

It is all about money currently... Roll Eyes

updates on the rig and more pictures can be seen here...

my MQ on the RMP&O forum

factory PTO winch going on soon. Building custom front bumper with winch cage. 3/8" plate steel and it is going to be pimp! Also custom rear bumper in the works. Will likely do some sliders as well since I took a hard hit on the passanger sill last weekend. Going to run plasma cable in the winch. Got an ARB air locker for the front diff. The LSD in the rear is still tight.

Big plans for the MQ Patrol...very slowly I am making headway. Chug

I bought some Yuri CV's and a high steer knuckle out of Aus. The CV's are strengthened and supposed to be able to handle tires up to 40". Yuri actually runs MQ diffs in his buggy with these CV's. The buggy is in comps and has never broke a CV so I am pretty sure they will be strong enough for me. They are heat treated, have a ring welded on the flange and are factory CV's (strongest). The knuckle is a custom modified high steer set up for use in SoA. Should be much better than a high steer arm bolted to the top of the knuckle.

In the SoA I plan to go with shock hoops and long travel shocks. Shock mounts in rear will also be changed. It is a toss up right now if I run stock leaves or have Alcan in Denver build me some new ones. Steering will be changed from stock. All the relay junk will be removed and drag link will just run from pitman arm to knuckle, using the high steer knuckle like I mentioned. Will run a heavy duty draglink and tie rod with 3/4" hemi joints. I also want to try and move front diff forward 1-2" which shouldn't be to hard. Cut the spring hangers off and that should make it easy. Might try to do a shackle reversal in front if it helps steering, wobble and all that. Rear diff I want too move back 1-2" also. That will be much easier than the front. Can just flip leaves around to move rear diff back. Plan is to cut out the stock x-member and build a new one. Move it back and weld in. Use stock tranny mounts just cut off and move back for 5spd. Will either modify stock drivelines or run a custom one like High Angle Driveline makes. Eventually I plan to convert the drum e-brake to a disc and also convert rear brakes to disc. But this is a ways out.

The PTO winch is going to be put back in as far as possible. Factory mount on them is pushed pretty far forward with a big ass landing deck for a front bumper. We may have to shorten the prop shafts for the PTO to move it back but nothing a plasma cutter can't handle! I have no probs cutting up the grill to suck the winch back in but want to leave room for external coolers in front of the rad. Going with swivel anchor points on the front and rear bumpers. Rear lower quarter will be chopped and patched with new steel. Rear bumper will wrap around body and provide a rear slider.

Have a load of parts on the way from Marv @ Specter. Rear tire carrier, dash assembly with tach, another PTO winch and some things like this.

Trying to source some 4.6's gears. Have some leads on some. Buying rebuild kits for all the stuff in the front diff. Then plan to rebuild it, fit new CV's, fit the f/w hubs and fit the air locker.

Bought some new outside mirror heads out of Aus since mine are pretty rusty. might buy a Garret T24 turbo off ebay since it is dirt cheap. This is the factory turbo put on the ZD30 diesel Patrol motor. It may be a bit small for the SD33 so still debating it. I want to run a Garret T4. Just bought some new tranny mounts in prep of the 5spd fitting. Picking up plasma cable for the winch next week and also a fairlead.

Shopping around for parts, mostly little stuff like rubber bits and so forth. Also kind of shopping around for a 84-87 MK Patrol to import for parts. I plan to import the Patrol and use most of it on my truck, ie rear H233, SD33T, square headlight grill and so forth.
