You won't believe this, but I met an old lady who needed some help working around her house, and I went into her garage for some stuff she wanted out, and she had this cream puff Patrol there! She said her husband was the original owner, and never really used it except when he first bought it back in '65. It was from Florida, and they had it hauled here when they moved here in the early 70's. Her husband died and she said since I liked it so much I can work for her for it! This thing is totally stock and has a convertable roof made of canvas. The paint is clean and kinda teal blue or something. I will get pics tommarrow, I am afraid to start it, because it hasn't been used for so long, it might need new fuel lines and the gas tank cleaned. I am totally stoked and think I might have found a really good old unit!

If it is THAT nice, dont cut it up.. clean it up and restore it like Fudd did with Admiral Togo!

You might want to relay info about it to Fudd to see just how rare the truck is. The canvas top trucks are pretty rare.

If originally a soft top it is one of 975 ever sold here. If it is original and super clean you are looking at maybe one of 100-200 in the USA. Likely less than that is you factor in the ragtop & clean org condition. Most ragtops are dust or not original, a lot got hardtops on them long ago. If it has org canvas the material will be white around the rear windows for trim. It is also a three piece design that will come apart in 3 pieces.

You shouldn't have to much of a prob to start it. How long has it been? First thing to do is check the motor by turning it over by hand. This easy to do if it has a hand crank. If not a large wrench will work, might as well set it on TDC now too for easy of firing. matter of fact if the battery is dead and it has a generator. Well you can just fire it up with the hand crank! Fuel tank has drain plug in it, just crawl under the tank and look, you will see it. Turn it over few times with fuel line unhooked either by hand or with a good battery. This will make the mechanical pump spit out the old fuel at the carb to pump out the old fuel. Then new fuel in tank, prime the system. New battery or charge the old one. Check distro and points for rust, buring or corrosion. Check motor oil and maybe change it. Check radiator and maybe change it out. Coolant is easy too with drain plug at bottem of radiator. Clean the starter wires and make sure the ignition system has good conections. Check the spark plugs. Then go for it and fire it up!

What is mileage? Check under seat for tool kit, check it for a Hitachi radio or PTO that will say Koenig on it. Look for rust on back of tub around tail lights, around seat belt mounts, around jump seat mounts, near kick vents inside and out, on floor pans. Take the old gal for a drive in it! Get some pictures and post them.....

Terrance, do you have someplace to store this patrol indoors? If its that nice, you wont want to keep it outside.

Leslie is right...I did not restore Togo. He is orgiginal, I simply improved it a little here and there.

And if this ragtop in SoCal is really that nice it won't need to be restored, garaged yes but restored no! Clean original Patrols just may be worth more unrestored....
