The beach should be open all week right? maybe we could sweet talk a park or 2 to make an exception for us. I am pretty sure we would have at least 10 rigs and if the Texas crowd wanted to join us it would be more.

I believe the beach is open 24x7. But you can double check here.

Padre Island National Seashore
Corpus Christi, Texas is the official name of the beach we go too.

that beach camping looks rightoeous.

Sounds like TX has the same issue as the rest of the east - a lack of public land to wheel on.

I have seen a lot of pics, etc. at Barnwell though, and it looks like there's some pretty cool trails in the area.

Yeah it was cool to be able to drive on 63 miles of that beach. 4wd only after the first 10 miles. I had to use low range some times. It was real gravelly and rough.

Barnwell is a must see. Lots of great trails. But there only open fri-sun.

Almost every piece of land in Texas is privately owned. So most of the parks if not all are privately run. I am used to CA were you could go to the desert and wheel for hours, days 24x7 365 for free. Its funny and sad CA has more offroad parks and places than TX and cheaper. Complain
