Advance Adapters has an adapter to use an Atlas transfer case on the Titan. I'm happy for the Titan owners and especaily for the one or 2 guys who are going to buy this unit. If that 44 was having trouble before, wait to see what this will do to it.

I know my local dealer has replaced at least 4 since last year. Apparently it has to do with breaking in the gears before major towing.

I wonder if they have a mechanical activated system or do you have to run linkage through the floor board?

Atlas trans cases have levers that push-pull rods linked directly to the yokes. In other news, Atlas announced a new 4-speed T-case for under $3K to be available soon. Don't know the exact gear ratio specs but the possibility of an overdrive, 1:1, and two crawl ratios sounds like a winner to me.

It opens up some doors though. Maybe some 4x mag will get one and do a build.

But I doubt it.

Prolly more of the earliest models -that didn't have the reworked finned cover, insufficient lube, poor quality lube. I think the new cover came out 2005.

I'm sure there's even a vendor w/ an oversize cover- to hold more lube.
If it's really a problem -someone could overengineer it by throwing a small pump w/ a cooler plumbed in. Beer sign

I think the break in thing was a cop out. Most of the problems, as far as I know, were from the axle being delivered with no oil in it. Not gonna last too long with no lube.

I just can't figure out why AA has came out with a 6:1 transfer case for a vehicle that 1) will never be a hard core rock crawler because of a 140" wheelbase. 2) they would have only done a bit of research to find that there are plenty of modifed xterra/frontiers owners that would be much more likely to purchase an item like this than a Titan owner.

That's just me.

OK, maybe not a cop out, but 500 miles isn't that much. And many were delivered with no oil.

The only reason I can come up with is maybe the new frontier/x/Pathfinder may use the same case and are just getting a jump on the compitition?

If it was my truck I wouldn't tow anything or load the bed down for the first 500-750 miles.

WELL, I'll be damned.

I cross-referenced the front case sections between the Titan and the '05 Frontier and they are indeed the same. But only for the automatic transmission. Someone will need to confirm whether or not the bolt patterns between the two 6-speed and auto Frontier/X cases are the same. I'm betting they are.

The input gears between the case for the Titan and Frontier/X are not the same part number however. So someone at some point will need to confirm if those are the same as well.

One step closer to having cool "mainstream" stuff for new Nissans! I just wish they manufacturers would look at all the stuff already on the roads.

We kicked this around on NOR. I mentioned the possibility of putting this TC on an older Frontier/Xterra.

Take a look at the bolt patters of the 05 Frontier and the older ones.

They look identical to me...

See? I got some smarts..... oh o.k. that's pushing it. Anyway, it would be great if that adapter would work on a D22 chassis, I doubt it though. If anyone is going to be able to find out it will be Chris.

What a shame, they made an adapter for the Titan. Just like the AA adapters they made 20 some odd years ago to put a chevy v8 in a hardbody, they will sell around 10 or 20 of these over the next 5 years, and then discontinue them. Imagine if they made that adapter for the Fronty's and x's, I can think of many folks here including myself that would purchase one. The marketing people at AA are idiots aparently.

Mabye we should call them and mention that there is a market with the older Nissan crowd.. We're used to high dollar parts for our trucks anyway.

What I would be REALLY interested in, is an adapter to fit a Klune box between the T case and tranny. It would be entirely doable. Just need adapter plates & shafts made.

Totally agree, and also think adapters would be simple for AA to design for us, but they won't do it because the marketing peeps don't see any money in it. Pretty wierd that they think Titan peeps are gonna buy this stuff, someone didn't do their homework on this one.
