Yeah, the axle thing miffs me...I mean, my 18 year old 135hp hardbody had 10x the axle my new 305 hp Titan has...what the hell is that about. The number of times the hardbody has broken down on me on the road in 18 years and 200,000 miles...once a bad plug wire, once a bad TBI injector...both times I drove to my destination. The number of times I have been STRANDED by the titan in 2 years and 30,000 miles...THREE. Tranny blew, rearend blew, tranny lines blew. I honestly consider the hardbody to be more reliable once the SAS is finished, which is really sad. I get nervous taking the Titan on long trips. I would rather the hb be done and drive it on a SAS with the 35's than take the Titan, there's something seriously wrong with that. Nissan dropped the ball.

It appears that the axles are the weak spot on these trucks. My guess is that Nissan figures 95% of these trucks never go off road,so axles would be a great place to cheap out. They should offer an axle upgrade.

Dodge had similar problems with the rear diff/axle from 1999-2002,but they seem to have that cured.

My titan has only been on a gravel road once, let alone offroad. It's only pulled a heavy trailer a few times, also. The axle still crapped, and is gearing up for another crap. They aren't even fit for the street.

Holy shit,I didn't realize that they were that worthless. The Titan is the only Nissan 4x4 that I haven't owned and if that is how they hold up,it doesn't look like I'll be buying one. Roll Eyes

That means I'll wait until they announce the all new axle package.I'm not in to having axles swapped out on a brand new truck. My 10 year old Pathy, that's a different story.

We should all write to Nissan letting them know they need to address this issue. I would love to buy a Titan but I can't see why I would have to upgrade a brand new truck just to pull my Frontier, because that is the only reason I would need to buy a fullsize. \

So what is the word now Aaron?

well this one guy at NissanUSA won't even talk to me anymore and put me on to another advisor because I may have shown my ass a little bit Devil

but... they should have the verdict by this weeks end (Fri). It will be 3 weeks this sunday... REDICULOUS

They're trying to say now that I may have been "mudding" and that could have caused it... are you FUC*ING KIDDING ME?!? It clearly stats in the manual that 4x4 is NOT recommended for on road driving, so of course I was probably in the mud, why else would I need 4wd?!? Theres no rocks around here... They are really just trying to bend me over on this one and am so exhausted from dealing with it, i could scream...
its so much fun paying for a truck you can't even drive...

I'm almost passed mad and just getting desperite, ya know?!?... Frown

I feel you...my 05 quest has been a turd, it might just be the LAST Nissan I ever buy and that's sad seeing as I've owned almost nothing but Nissans since I started driving and was really looking at a Titan.

I have owned:

84 300z wrecked
91 2wd pick up
93 pickup 2wd sold with 150K
96 xcab 4wd traded in with 135K
00 xterra 80K still own.

Very few problems with any of those, but the 05 Quest with about 30k on it now has had the brakes warp ever 5k miles. They have been turned I don't know how many times and replaced. Frown The doors all creak and rattle and pop. The back hatch door warning light has been coming on for 15K miles and every time I take it in they say they can't replicate the problem, until I took a pic at 50mph with the warning light on the dash Big Grin so now they are replacing the latch and catch. The gas gauge doesn't register full after you fill up, it can take 2-3 days to come off empty other times its ok. They can't replicate. The tire pressure warning light will say low pressure (below 32) with 40 plus pounds in the tires. They can't replicate. The radio has been replaced twice due to it eating CDs and I have a funny noise coming from the front end that they can't replicate at the dealer. I've put allot of highway miles on it and it runs like a champ but the small things are killing me.

I've talked to Nissan USA so much that’s I've had 3 separate Log numbers and they final told me to file a claim with the BBB.
Roll Eyes

I hope it all works out for you .

I saw the Nissan Titan axle problem coming a mile away. Why put a Dana 44 in s truck that's rated to haul what the Chevy w/a Semi-float 14 bolt can? Doesn't make sense. The 10 bolt was the weakest axle put into full size Chevys, then Nissan screws up and puts the same size axle in a heavier, more powerful truck? The 1/2 ton Tian should have come w/a Dana 60 or equivelant (semi-flaot would have been fine, go full float on a HD verion, the up it for 14 bolt/Dana 70 size for a 3/4 or 1 ton version). Dana 44 rears barely cut it for Hardbodys and Frontiers!

Someone needs to make a master list of all the people who have had problems with diffs, front and rear. Once we have a genuine list, each person on that list as well as those whomay break them in the future will have some weight especaily when district reps need to be involved. This way when they say there is not problem, the list can be shown with contact info and after a while it will be the only paper needed to get those diffs fixed.

Those god damn tire pressure sensors are another complaint of mine. I am so close to ripping that freaking bulb out of my dash. They took a good idea and rendered it worthless. I am running aftermarket wheels, but stock size, stock tires, and if I run enough pressure to keep the light off, I wear the center of the tires down. I've been alternating a month of it off, with a month of it on to keep the tires worn even. There's no adjustment on the system, and the blame the wheels. Yeah, that must be it, because nissan isn't stamped on them. Mad Mine come on about 30-32 p.s.i. Why not make it adjustable, or god forbid, drop it to 25 p.s.i. or something? Sorry, if it comes on at 25 p.s.i., and you lose that much air by the time you pull over, the tire was already screwed. Meanwhile, I deal with the light, or prematurely wear my tires. I even keep 600 pounds of sand in the bed to even out the tire wear at the pressure required to keep the light off. Roll Eyes I don't know if it's the tires construction, or what. I honestly can't wait for the Bridgestones to wear out though, these tires are like plastic. There's nothing like not being able to use cruise ever when it rains.

Hi guys! Some of yall already know me and some dont. Gator linked this to me and I had to chime in. I have already broken 2 front diffs on my 05 fronty. A-rod good luck getting anything fixed here in N.Florida/S.Georgia. The local Nissan appraiser is an ass. Ive got a couple of good friends from Coggin Nissan and even with them I had to call my insurance agent on my first diff. The only place that my help you is the Nissan dealership in St Augustine. Also if needed I know the name of a lawyer the specailizes in sueing Car Companies and the Govt. If you need more proof of how shitty our diffs are check out this link.

I would tell their area rep that you will pursue a legal resolution to this and I'm sure that they will cave in. Cool

Peterson's 4Wheel & Offroad broke 2 rearends (towing what it said it was rated to tow) in their test Titan before they totaled it in a snow storm shortly after the last rear end replacement.
