i picked up a GPS deallywomper for my laptop so i needed a place to mount it in my truck. $8.42 later i have a one i'm quite happy with. i used steel from bedframes and a fence post i had sitting around that i got for free. already had the welder and paint. i bought a white plastic cutting board and some machine screws to attatch that.
the main post can be removed easy and leave the mount there. it also moves side to side and can be secured at any position.

it attatches using the front left passenger seat bolt over to a bolt under the console. it's very sturdy. there's an additional foot for stability, just a peice of steel to resist side movement, works perfect.

if you see under the stand itself i cut out a hole right where the fan intakes for the comp so it will have no prob getting any air. currently i'm using the pictured skinny black bungies to hold it down. i'm gonna use the extra cutting board material to put some small walls around the border so the comp cant slide far if the bungies fail.

i tried a little harder to make the mount sturdy yet not interfere with the seat rail sliding front to back. it still has full movement.

i might put something cushiony between the mount and comp but i'm not to worried about it. if the mount isnt pretty solid it will bounce, squeak and move around. my best freinds a cop and his laptop takes rediculous ammounts of abuse every day with his driving and he has never had the first issue with it.

Oh yah i also still have perfect access to all my controls and it's just the right height to not interfere with shifting.
