You're driving to Cali on backroads? How big is your gang?

My scooter gang is big. lol

It isn't my scooter. It belongs to a Korean kid that has crossed the US on it... He's been through 20 states so far. He's taking the backroads all the way to San Diego.. then to Los Angeles and then finally up to San Francisco.

Anyong-haseyo, desertpir8 ! I didn't realize that trip is still in progress. I remembeer you inviting Tae for a layover. I'm guessing he'll be coming up the Banner Grade/ Hwy 78 and into Julian/through the Laguna Mountains?

I haven't sat down with him to help him figure out his route yet. He's postponing his trek out that way until the weather clears up a little. These storms coming look to be a little crazy.

There aren't a lot of backroad options to head toward the Yuma direction on a scooter. he might have problems with the distance between towns in SW Arizona. he's got about 200-250 mile range including his spare gas can. So, he might end up having to head up toward Parker, AZ area and then head west into Cali and then south in Cali to get to San Diego.

I noticed a picture of Tae on the 60 near Wenden. If he can get back on it, there's a frontage road he can pick up a mile or so before Hwy60 joins w/ the 10Fwy.

The frontage rd is on the north side and is a good 1/4 mile off the fwy. It looks like the pavement ends after a couple miles on this road, but "sat" picture( google maps) shows a dirt track for a couple additional miles before pavement picks up again. Looks like it goes all the way into QUartzite( maze of roads).

Pick up Main St/ Hwy 95 in Quartzite. It crosses over the fwy to south side to pickup-
Dome rock Road -westbound- all the way into Ehrenburg . It doesn't look like there's a way to cross the river w/o getting on fwy, at this point. Maybe motor driven vehicles are allowed on this short section of the 10 FWY, as there's no other river crossing for miles. If that is not the case...
...Oxbow road( south) which turns into-
Levee road( both of these follow the river south on the AZ side).

Just before the Cibola Nat'l Wildlife REfuge, he could hop over to Hwy 78 in California, and take that all the way into Julian and points West from there.

Maybe a phone call to AZDOT would confirm/deny motor driven vehicle legality on some fwy sections to make travel easier, if desired.

Does he need a hook up in SD? We've got room here in Pacific Beach if he needs a place for a day or two (or more if he isn't creepy).

Yeah, I think he's looking for a place to couch surf in San Diego. He wants to go see SD, but I dont think he has any invites yet. He'll probably find a place to pitch his tent if he cant find a roof to sleep under there.

Tae is a great kid.. no complaints here.

I've got a set of cycle leathers Tae can have. I bought them in Korea when I was in Pohang in 1986- never wore them.

Jacket is 44", pants about a 34" waist w/ 34" inseam. All black, but jacket has red trim on the sides.

He's got a nice Honda riding jacket that was donated to him. He's a skinny kid though, so 34" waist pants probably wouldn't work. Thanks for the offer though.

If any of you guys want to invite Tae to stay while in Cali, give him a call or text him at 312-576-3953.
http://totalruckus.com/phpBB3/...opic.php?f=2&t=39030

Let him know you followed his thread on TotalRuckus. He'll also need an address to put into his GPS to find his way. Make sure to also tell him that you are friends with John in Mesa. Smile

I can put him up for a night or two before he heads down to the beach.

I tried the text thing, but that gene isn't in my phone or brain housing group. I think I have that disabled on VErizon's end due to too much text spam.

Just skimmed thru that whole thread. Cool stuff!

On a side note, who drives that blue SAS Pathfinder that was in the CK pics? A guy I work with is always showing me pictures of that truck. Guess he's friends with the owner.

Well, I just got myself banned from Total Ruckus.

The board is down, but chat is up- with a big picture of Chairman Mao Zedong at the top of the chat window..

Everyone in chat seems to be queefing, farting, spooging, crapping, pissing ( in general- blabbing about nothing and pron) when I bring up pic of Mao- that they are glorifying someone worse than Hitler( when they should be glorifying Soichiro HOnda- the founder of the company who's product they are crazy about).

nobody says a word about it , so I repeat
Soichiro HOnda a few times and get banned.

I guess , besides Google, the Chinese are hacking into message boards. Or a few that run the show on TR are just idiots.

i guess the banning was short lived. I'm back on giving them crap about it. Wish me luck.

Well I guess they like poopy talk more than anything factual. I'm banned again.
