Several questions, what are the 1/4 mile times, what engine mods have been done, how reliable is it, and do you feel that 10 grand is obtainable? Just wondering, not a serious buyer, and I agree with Andy, go slow. Big Grin

John or Okie could give you lots more details, but yes, it's worth every penny. The entire car has been gone through and the body/interior are in excellent original condition. The car runs an Isuzu NPR truck intercooler with all custom plumbing, and things are tweaked to run close to 18lbs of boost (they run about 7 lbs stock) You could eat out of the engine bay, and the suspension has been fully overhauled.

Don't know if he's ever taken it to the strip, but after having ridden in the car, I'm pretty sure it could get 1/4 mile times into the 12's at over 100mph.

From what my dad posted a while back:

quote:

It's a cherry 1983 Datsun 280ZXT that is making around 350HP at 17 lbs of boost. Eibach/Tokico 5-way suspensio9n, 3/4" drop, detailed powdercoated undercarriage and suspension, stainless steel brake lines, Borg-Warner T-5, ACT Street/Strip Clutch. All new rebuilt cross-drilled slotted rotor brakes. All new clutch hydraulics. A/C works like a champ. Intercooler out of NPR turbo diesel truck, custom stainless mandrel bent IC tubing. Custom 4-row radiator, a lot of plished aluminum, stainless steel and jet hot under the hood. Custom 7/8" stainless fuel rail with 33lb injectors. 30lb boost guage and fuel air ratio/injector cycle monitor. Brand new Panasport lightweight racing wheels with Yokohama AVS intermediate racing tires (Z rated--good to 200MPH). Original leather seats, no cracks in original dash, immaculate interior. Show winner with trophies to go with the car. Too much other cool stuff to list and I'm WAY up into 5 figures with what I have in it.

I know he has over $20k invested in it.. Its a very nice car, well built, and extremely fast. Its also never been formally raced, believe it not, so no 1/4mi times handy, but if it hooked up well with as hard as it accelerates it would be in the 12s, easily. I know it'll hang neck and neck with a Panoz Roadster and will embarass C5 vette owners, if that gives you any idea of how fast it is.

Wrenchin on this car has been good therapy for me for many years. How many times have we trailered it across the US when moving with the Air Force? I don't want to sell it, and it's not about the money--I really don't need the money and there's no way I'll get the $20K plus I have in it. It's just time to move on to another hobby that Mrs Okie and I can both enjoy as we get along in years. This car is very dependable. Datz and I took it to the West Cost Z-Car Nationals show in 2001. Drove it to SoCal and had a great time over there dusting Riceboy Hondas and driving Mulholland Drive. There are plenty of young kids out there with rich dads who'd love to buy this car and then go tear it up or hurt themselves. I'm only going to sell it to someone who will appreciate it and can/will maintain it. Part of the enjoyment of this car is not just driving it, it's also taking care of it. Just sign me "Not Anxious to Sell". Frown

I think for 10K you'll have multiple bidders
( smiley31 and some brawling between potential buyers). Why not Ebay or auto trader for quite abit more?

You need some wiggle room for those that will want to loball you.

Yep, still for sale cause I've been pretty passive about selling it. Datz, can you repost some pics? As I'm getting deeper into the jeep thing (meaning spending more money than I have tied up in the Z) I realize I really have to let it go. But I'm standing by my intent to sell it only to someone in the Z community who can maintain it.

Hey Okie, I'm thinking about buyin' your Z. I'm moving out of rock crawling... What do you mean by "maintain" it? Is it just general mainitence? I promise, she'll be garaged her entire life... Datz, definitly get some pics up. It would take me a little while to come up with the 10g's (Selling the boat), but I'm sure we could work something out. Maybe you'd be interested in the boat as a partial trade?

Think 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Smile The car has seen ~140-150mph in the past.

Top end is limited by gears and probably isn't more than 115-120 before you hit redline. The car is blindingly fast on straight line accelleration though and would embarrass a lot of muscle cars at the drag strip.

I know sr. won't sell it if he thinks you're gonna kill yourself in it though.....
