We saw this guy on Sunflower Mine trail today. he was about 40" long - very large for the species. Arizona has 9 species of rattler...this is the first one of these I've ever seen. Information can be found here.

What a beauty!!

My bro killed one like that not long ago. I'm trying to remember, but it looked an awful lot like that. He skinned it, and is planning to make a hatband or two out of the skin though. He goes to a REALLLY liberal school and is looking forward to pissing some of them off. I'll try to get a pic when he does it

I'm a better shot.
I was out on a quad in the Black Hills this past weekend and ran across some old timers my 85 year old host knew. One of them had a holster on and some grips sticking out. I asked him how long he had that Dan Wesson. He said nobody had ever been able to guess what it was before. I wouldn't of shot the snake, just you guys if you ever played a snake joke on me. Meh. |

We have lots of snakes in Florida. only a few species are deadly. Most people just kill any snake they see.
Never seen a snake like the one pictured. Even without seeing it's tail I can tell its a rattler. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |
