This is the kit they show in the video:

Unfortunately, these have long since been out of production. The realism is unbelievable.

I have one Smile Absolute joy to drive. Nothing like a R/c truck with a 3 speed tranny and 4wd low. Definitly my favorite R/c truck.

Tamiya had two production runs on that R/C truck, once in the mid 80's and another in the early part of the 90's. I was into the hobby when the second run hit, but was too poor (I was 13 or 14) when it was out there. I'd love to find one (in good condition, or new) now. Those things are SWEET.

This isn't nearly as kick ass as those tamiya trucks, but I thought it was kinda cool: The Xmods F-150 with the lift kit and 4x4 mods and a quickie custom paint job. The yellow one next to it is the bone stock version.

It wheels okay, but it's geared waaay to high for any sort of crawling. It's tackled a pair of sandles and a roll of 3/4" tape pretty handily. I think it would crawl really well if I could get the right gears in it.

The second time they were produced, they were updated to use a standard 6 cell battery pack instead of the "tank pack" use in early Tamiya R/C tanks. They changed the moniker from "Bruiser" to "Mountaineer". One major improvement was the completely preassembled transmission. It lost the half-cap in favor of a roll bar. Here is mine in case you haven't seen it in other posts.

I have my stock tires packed away. These Redlines work soooo much better.
Yes, I did the paint. No, it is not for sale. Although I might change my mind if that kit on E-Bay sells for $2,000+!!! That's just plain CRUEL! Devil

Kyosho actually made a realistic kit also for the Nissan Pathfinder/Terrano, the Toyota Bruiser/4-Runner and the Mitso Pajero. They were the same kit with diffrent bodies. Front and rear drive shafts, 3 speed tranny and two speed T-case. They came in a electric, and a rarer gas powered.
