I had a scale rc crawler(a Jeep really), wish I still did.
Sold it for more than I had into it, so not a bad deal.

That was way cool. I wish I could afford to build something like that. With the new kid on the way all my money is spoken for.

Yeah I've been along time member of the rccrawler website. I like watching the comp trucks more then the scale rigs. But I still have a scale bronco rig I drive once and awhile.

Thanks, yeah the tires grip really well under the weight of the truck. It has a 3 speed transmission. 4low and 2wd.

i run the same tires on my fully locked emaxx rock crawler, but on scale beadlocks and no foam (really grips well). way to much money into it. Gonna upgrade to twin mod motors and gear it lower...hopefull make a lil more power. If theres one problem with it...its too light

I am working on building a maxx right now. Cheaper than working on the real truck, lol.

I have fully locked diffs, 7" Proline Moab tires, 4" wheels. Width of the tires is almost 4"

I am going to get an aluminum chassis, and set up a 4-link for it. Right now, using a stock maxx chassis, and RPM arms, it gets decent suspension travel. Here is a pic (I took it with my camera phone) to give an idea. Sorry for the crappy quality, lol

Like I said, the tires have a 7" diameter. I put my all-to-familiar "walmart crawler" next to it for comarison. Enjoy Dork

Here is a pic of my RC10 TC3 awd sedan. Behind it, is my emaxx rock crawler project. Both are the same scale.... 1/10. It is funny how much bigger the truck is, lol

Yeah you really have to do a SAS to get the full crawling potential. I'd just do something similar to Soyas Maxx. I design his chassis myself simple easy and cheap.

Your maxx build up looks good so far lots of decent well equiped crawling mods.

That's pretty sweet.

How much money would it take to build one of these from scratch? I already have a 3-channel remote.

My little project has hit a brick wall. I'm trying to find some parts...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v88/92PathSE/XRM%20Crawler/IMG_6199.jpg

it's a bit more complete than that. The wheelbase is longer and the body sits like it's supposed to. Just need to make some mounts for the coilovers and find a long belt for the front.

You can get a ready to run truck new, for approx 350 or so.

So far, by buying parts on ebay, I am about 200 in. I am building a custom chassis using aluminum and hard automotive brake line.

Look on ebay, and you can get a used rig for around 250-300.

The cheapest way to get into it is buy a smaller scale truck. Buy a tamiya TLT $80 and build it into a bigger more scale truck. Use the axles.
