What's the story behind that shot?

Thats quite a stretch there. Here is the link to the original post that lead to being on the mountain where that pic was taken.

For all you lazy people, heres the post.

Okay, now foe the long, long story. Sorry I didnt post up sooner. Thank you for all the replies guys. Work was hectic this week.

So my dad's buddy decides to go camping in his 2wd crew cab long bed pickup that had semi-bald tires in the back. 2wd! Not that thats bad in itself, where he went camping a civic could make it in. But the problem came when he decided instead of using the nice graded road to leave, he wanted to try the trail down the other side of the mountain. Well, he shredded the tires PAST the sttel, and blew two of them out. So he hiked about 3 miles to get a cell phone signal, and called my dad for help. So sunday, my dad in his 2004 mistubishi montero sport 4wd, and my brother in his 85 blazer, head out to go rescue him. Upon getting there, they decide that the best course of action would be to go get some new tires in town and come back to get the truck the next day. Well, as they were driving out, my broter rounds a corner that my dad had just driven through no problem, and drives his truck straight into this ravine. The only thing that stopped the truck from going over was the tow hook on the front. The pics dont really do it justice, its a scary drop. So then he and his passenger crawl out carefully through the friver door, get in my dads truck, and they just come home. My dads truck is a lightwieght compared to that blazer and was on the wrong side. So the next morning, as Im leaving for school, my mom says something like, hey did you hear ryan almost died? I pretty much just stopped dead in my tracks at this point, and said, excuse me? So I proceed to call my dad, and he says that the plan is to meet a 4x4 towtruck in globe, and head out from there. So I post up here, and then my dad decides we cant wait. So after school, I come home and jump in the truck and we all take off.

Deep breath.

So we meet up with the towtruck guy in globe, and hes got this early 90s dodge 4x4 badass tow truck. (See pic) And we head out. The back way in (since the truck was facing the "wrong" way took us like 4 hours cause the tor truck guy put it in granny and 4lo the whole way. So we went ahead and changed the tires on the other truck. And waited. And waited. Then we get going again after the tow truck catches up. And my brothers truck is right around the bend a ways. So we get there, and the guy just stares and walks around it for like 2 hours before even attaching a chain. Long story short, he gets it pulled out, with daylight RAPIDLY fading, and an impressive lightning show going, and now, the engine wont start. Turns out the carb had made a siphon and had filled the engine with gas. Completely full. So we pull the plugs, and crank the motor, and then we drain the oil/gas mixture, and crank some more and then she fires up. By this time its well dark. Then we get on our way finally, and about a mile up the road, the tow truck falls into a ravine just like this one. Again, long story short, we end up leaving the tow truck and my brothers truck again, it was behind the tow truck, and head home. The next morning me and my brother and the original camper set out again for globe, when we get there the tow truck has already been moved, so we get a move on for home.

Total damage:
4 new tires and rims for original truck $1200
Tow truck for entire day $742
Damage to original truck $6150
Yes, 6000 dollars, all bumpers, rocker panels, a control arm, the exhaust system, he cracked the oil pan.
Laying down in my bed tue night, after a hell two days (my two days off from work coincidentally) $Priceless

Im sure I forgot stuff, but this is a long enough post already

Sorry, you asked. I have pics of the stuck Blazer almost rolling off the mountain if you'd like those as well.
