So the rental units out here, theres about a dozen on 5 lots totalling about 800'x1500' approx. Maybe 10-15% of this is actually cleared, the rest is woods (Yes theres woods in hawaii). Anyway, I've started to make a small network of trails through the woods so I have something to do with the short bus. One afternoon I started a new trail, spot was a little off camber (ok, honest 30 degrees, I walked it afterwards), was a bit of a squeeze between two trees, and had just a hint of mud on top of a smooth rock. Needless to say I went downhill, sideways, fast. No worries about rolling, remember the squeeze? The tree saved me as quick as it could by jumping in the way of my door...

So I drove out of that spot, thus the big paintless area and low long the mark is.

Dang! Some people just can't have nice things.

I dunno if "nice" and "shortbus" could ever be implied to be one and the same.

Nice carnage though.. nothing another can of spray paint cant fix.

So, does the door open and close better now?

No change, window still works. I've hit that tree 2-3 times since. Seems its impossible to sidehill on that spot without sliding some. I've given up, and just run right next to the tree and lean the top of the truck on it the whole time.

The short bus may not be nice, but it's getting more functional. I'm days away from cutting out the dash, doing a 100% rewire of the truck, and a new gauge pod. I even bought decent gauges for it!

And while it's true that I ruin basically everything I own sooner or later, the bus was intended for just such abuse. I'd feel bad beating down a nice truck as hard as the short bus takes it. Me. Feel bad for a car.

You need to weld up some rock sliders to let you slide on the trees.

Hawaiin tree sliders. That's kinda funny. Bamboo step rails would look pretty cool on the shortbus.

Might be a good idea. I'd need a set on the rockers, a set at the body line (widest point) and a set along the top of the cab. I rub all 3 on trees every time i go out.

"Where's the snow eh?" We arrived in Pearl today. Gona try to see some sights tomorrow, my only day off. Since this is most likely my last time here I might try to get to the AZ memorial and out to the battle wagon. Too humid here for me.

Our internet access is about twice as fast as last time I was out this way so I might be able to keep up on events on the site. Sucks I wont be able to make the big run, maybe next year.
