Aliases

Please do not create alias accounts in the event of login failure or boredom with your username. If you feel you need a change, you may at any time change the publicly displayed name in your PROFILE preferences. If you absolutely need to be someone else or disassociate yourself, or conduct the affairs of your split personality, please alert the Administrators. We will decide what it necessary as we do not wish to manage inactive users and would like to know who you think you are this week. We like to keep things straight.

So how do we change your displayed name? Mine doesn't have a little box thing allowing me to do so... I'd like to change mine...

Go to your profile - about 1/2 way down the page you will see "Display name" - what you enter there is what will display on the board. It is not a required field as it is different from your username.

Yes. I see that. I can't enter/delete anything from that field. Did you guys lockup that feature for me? If so, unlock it!

Ok, my bad. It shows on mine. Apparently, if you didn't enter anything in that field when you registered, then the field isn't available to you now. I'm looking into it to as it shouldn't be that way. I'll post back when I find out the answer.

dl, when i registered i used Chris as my alias, and about 3 months ago it changed it to my login name and blocked the alias box out. not sure if its something that happened with board in general, so just letting you know...

Ok, here's the deal. YOU cannot change your own display name, but I can. So, if you decide that you need to have your display name changed, send me an email or a PT and I'll do it. It will not affect your username at all.
