So far my plans are to leave Saturday. Which means I will be in late Sunday or early Monday. I plan on running some intermediate to hard trails. But since my job is in Las Vegas (the new airport terminal), I will be bringing other toys to keep me busy after work. Is anyone else thinking about bringing a mountain bike? Is there any good long stretches of downhill to ride down (I don't want to ride up if I don't have to Smokin). I'm not in great shape for riding, but that little extra weight sure helps me go faster down hill Big Grin. My roof rack has 3 bikes mounts incase it is little drive to the top.
I did just take mine for a test run and all is in order, but I do have a hub assembly that could give me problems. Last year at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab I busted a couple studs off my hubs. That hub I helicoiled in some new threads, but couldn't fix one of them. Then last fall onthe Rubicon, I let the other hub get loose and sheared off all the bolts. That hub was unsalvageabble and I replace with a new hub assembly. So if anyone still has a hub assembly laying around , I will kindly take it off your hands smiley17.

Glenard and I were thinking about bringing our mountain bikes, but it is sandy out there and sand + mountain bikes suck. Even though I ride an all mountain and so does Glenard I don't want to do any downhill because it kind of defeats the purpose of riding. Having said all that we figured it was more trouble than its worth to haul the bikes and gear out there to keep them going.

Xteror, you heading out to the camp on your own then?

I think I sent you the email with the camp location, etc. Let me know if you didn't get it.

Yes, thanks Andy. I will be alone. The wife will be back East for her new job, training. I may have to leave early to if my job starts up again to early.
I understand on the bikes, sand sucks. But since I could get stuck working in Las Vegas for 2 more weeks, I will still be bringing it, that and my backpacking gear. In Boulder City, 20 mins., from my hotel are some great trails.

I thought about bringing my mountain bike but not sure if i want to deal with either hauling it around everywhere or being worried about a it being stolen from camp.

I don't know WTF queef means about downhill defeating the purpose. It's the best part of mountain biking and the whole reason for full suspension :P

Nah, the whole point of FS is to look cool. Trust me, I look cool standing next to my Big Hit. In the storage unit. Where it has been for 2 years.

holy carp, hey Ivan!

It's a 2001 model so it weighs 40lbs. It's just not good for around here. I'll replace it with something lighter and actually ride it. Wink

Lot's of places to ride a dirt bike, you could tag along on a lot of the wheeling trails too, but we'd probably be going pretty slow for your taste.
