1 – 7/16” Grade 8 Flat Washer
Loctite® – High Strength (#27105)

Materials Needed:
Gloves
Safety Goggles or Face Shield (recommended)
Small Cut-off Wheel
Center-punch
1/16” Cobalt Drill Bit (pilot hole)
27/64” Cobalt Drill Bit (main hole)
12mm x 1.50 Cobalt Drill Tap

Installation:

1. Place the vehicle in “PARK” if equipped with an automatic transmission or in gear if it is equipped with a manual transmission. Remove the rear driveshaft from the vehicle from the axle side and slide the shaft out of the transfer case. Next, using pliers or a small flat head screwdriver, pry open the clamps on the stock slip-yoke boot and remove unit entirely.
2. Once the driveshaft and stock slip-yoke has been removed mark a cut-line approximately 3/16” – ¼” from the end of the tail-shaft. This is done to remove the heat treated case and allow for drilling inside the shaft. For ease of cutting and also to prevent warpage of the tail-shaft we recommend this tested method:
A. With the rear driveshaft and all components completely removed, make sure the E-brake is engaged and the transfer case is in 2WD. Start the vehicle and put the transmission in REVERSE.
B. Using a small cut-off wheel locate your previously marked line and begin cutting. We recommend cutting for approximately 1 minute intervals with 5 minutes off “cooling off” time for the output shaft to keep true. During each cooling phase, turn off of the vehicle and allow the tail-shaft to stop spinning before putting the vehicle back in PARK.
C. Complete the above mentioned steps until the section has been successfully removed.
3. Once the tail-shaft section has been removed from the vehicle and the vehicle has been placed in PARK, place the CALMINI Slip-Yoke Eliminator in place. Make sure to match to splines on the vehicle with the part. Once on the vehicle, using a center-punch, mark the middle of the tail-shaft. This is where you will drill and tap the hole for the mounting bolt. Remove the Slip-Yoke Eliminator from the vehicle.
4. Mark the 1/16” drill bit so that a depth of only 1.375” (1 3/8) will be drilled into the shaft. This is only the pilot hole. Once completed, drill again with the 27/64” drill bit for the main hole to be tapped. Make sure to only drill 1.375” into the shaft as well. Once the final hole has been drilled, make sure all metal shavings are removed and the hole is cleaned using air or brake cleaner.
NOTE: When drilling the hole it is important to keep the drill level and square with the tail-shaft. An incorrectly angled hole will weaken the assembly as a whole.
5. Once the hole has been properly cleaned the process of tapping the hole begins. With the 12mm x 1.50 tap, carefully line it up to the drilled hole and start screwing it in. When tapping, every two complete turns in requires one full turn out to help clear the thread. Make sure to keep the hole clear of all shavings and debris as the tap will create excess metal shavings in the hole. A cutting oil or lubricant is recommended to help ease the tap through the hole. Make sure to proceed in tapping the hole carefully so as not to ruin the thread pitch.
6. After the hole has been completely tapped, re-install the CALMINI Slip-Yoke Eliminator. Using the supplied 12mm x 35mm x 1.50 bolt, 7/16” Grade 8 Flat Washer and Loctite, install the bolt through the center of the Slip-Yoke Eliminator and tighten.
7. With the Slip-Yoke Eliminator installed, the driveshaft installation can begin. Using the supplied 7/16” x 1” bolt and 7/16” flat washers, bolt the driveshaft to the flange with the bolts pointing towards the front of the vehicle. During this process it is easier to have the transmission in neutral so you can spin the shaft easily as well as supporting the rear of the driveshaft. Torque the bolts evenly throughout the pattern until all are tight.
8. Once the driveshaft has been installed recheck all of the mounting bolts and make sure to properly grease all moveable points.

Note: The OEM Nissan U-joints are Spicer 1310. The CALMINI SYE is designed to use a standard 1310, 1330, or 1350 flange yoke. You can reuse the existing axle side flange on the new driveline.
