Ok guys.

Here it is. You can also use a module and distributor from the Inline Maximas about 82-84. Just be sure it has the module with only 2 plugs. Visit this link for photos and write ups for the Z conversion (Z240 to 280ZX ignition) :

May Z-distributors and modules. Be sure to get a module from a manual tranny. (I'm not sure yet if the automatic one would mess with the system)




This is all you have to make for the distributor to convert: It is and longer 8mm bolt (to hold the timing in place), small metal pin to connect 2 female end (bottom of distributor and Patrol oil pump gear shaft), and finally the sleeve. I made the sleeve out of that new nylon, plastic like RV hose. It is very strong and easy to work with. I drilled a small hole in the sleeve to reuse a Z factory pin that held on its original Z plastic sleeve. Also, I drilled the inside diameter of the nylon sleeve with 1/2 inch drill. It was just the right side to keep everything snug.

This is when I was confirming the made pin was snug. Notice the Pat base in the upper right corner (you need that and save the rubber seal it is real snug and can be a pain to get flush but it fits perfect. In the lower right corner is the Z spacer (like a huge washer) you will need to use it because there needs to be the same overall shaft length. But you will need to cut to ends off since the factory Patrol base will not match up with the washer holes. Also, you will need to file down the inside of one of the Patrol base timing adjustment swing holes. The longer 8mm bolt in the first photo will not quite fit it. You will know what I'm talking about when you put the distributor together.


Cut washer and testing sleeve with Z original sleeve pin (so don't loose it)


THis is the complete Z/Patrol distributor (be sure that once you have assembled it that the Made pin is all the way in.

I ASSUME YOUR TALKING ABOUT THE FLAT KEY
TO JOIN THE TWO SHAFTS AND THE PIN HOLDS IT IN PLACE COVERD BY THE TUBEING IS THE TUBEING USED AS A BUSHING OR AS A PIN RETAINER OR A LITTLE OF BOTH DID YOU STILL NEED A COIL NEED A HOW TO ON CONECTING ELECTRICALLY
