Anyone up for an expedition/prerun into the Vulture mountains this weekend? I'm thinkin Saturday morning will work best.

The trails are located south of Wickenburg and pass through the Vulture Mountains around Vulture Peak. This area should be very scenic. The main trail is rated at a wimpy 1.5/5, but I'm working on finding some challenging loops in the area.. This area is a MAZE of trails with as many as 30-40 interconnecting trails shown on the USGS maps.

Here is a map of the main trail in red with the possible side trail loops in green. Nevermind the funky spur that comes out halfway through, I messed up.



This should be a fun trip.. As with all mine trails, you never know what you'll find out there. I have maps of several ghost towns in the area and the locations of a few gold mines we can go see.

The objects for the day: Find the most challenging and scenic route through this area. Find options for all levels and find a few good candidate spots to stop and eat lunch. And most importantly, to have fun.

Let me know if you guys want to go.. If we go on Saturday, the meeting time/place is 8:30am in the dirt lot at Carefree highway and I17.

John, am hoping to hear back from Quinton this afternoon. Have been trying to get hold of the guy for a week. I'm totally up for a run....but I would still like to get up on Reno to ensure it's still passable and possibly do some more work. I'll let you know what he says. Either way, I want to explore this area so we can firm up Day 6 of the run
