only its a little one... Its an LR Nelson cast iron Rain Train. They originally came out in 1963.

My dad had one of these when I was a kid. I remember how well it worked for watering odd shaped lawns. I'm trying to get grass to grow in my backyard, so figured this would be a nice way to water back there.

You put the front wheel of the tractor on the water hose and it follows the hose around the yard. Its got a 2 speed transmission to water more or less. This one also has a switch underneath that turns it off when it gets to the yellow ramp thing.

The dogs don't quite know what to think yet.

I resemble that Dad remark! By the way Datz, I had and used the old RainTrain up until we moved to Cottonwood. I gave it to neighbors across the street with whom we became good friends back in Edmond. Not much need here on the rocks.

Yep.. 2H, 2L, and neutral.

I think the shutoff valve is a new thing. I dont remember dad's having one. Also, they have cheapened out and the gearbox housing is now plastic. Oh well. Most of it is still die cast metal. Hopefully it'll last for a few years.

Heh, if this bermuda grass takes off as well as it should, I really will need a lawn tractor, as I'll have about 1/4 acre to mow.

As well you should have! We do have our priorities.

My tractor was all metal. Sad to here they went with a plastic gearbox. Hey Datz, have you figured out how to make it a 4X4 yet?

not yet.. That'd be pretty cool though and would be needed in my yard. I ran the sprinkler last night and the poor tractor pulled a Terrance and ended up on its side stuck in the mud with the wheels underground. Those gophers are sneaky saboteurs.

Along with the lawn tractor theme, I found a nice 38" deck riding mower for $150. Needs some electrical work to get it started. Should be well suited for obliterating grass/weeds/dog poo/toys (and running down gophers) in the yard. Gonna go pick it up tonight with the trailer. I think its gonna get a flame paint job and performance stickers all over it.

The big tractor I picked up tonight is a 13hp Mettler Toledo Yard Machine w/ 38" deck and Tecumseh engine. Its gonna need some TLC, but should make a fine tractor for working around the yard.
