I hope Andy doesn't "stay in the middle of his lane." That's the LAST place you're supposed to ride. All the drippings from the cars' engines is in the middle of the lane.

Learned that when I had my rider's permit

That's actually the worst spot- that's where most of the oil is on the road.
Wandering from left center to right center , repeatedly, keeps people guessing, keeps the rider more visible- as he's moving around- and keeps him as the "owner" of the lane he's in.

If you'd rather I blow sunshine up your ass ,please let me know smiley43

My tally for riding has logged in at aprox 100K miles, 45K of which was riden in two years on the Kawi 750. I stopped riding 22 years ago.
I've seen my share of crap, and experienced it firsthand, as well.

Glad you have a new bike and not a maintenance chore. The suzi should serve you well. Keep up w /the chain stretch/ wheel adjustments.

And OWN your lane.. I smiley34 think your first mod should be a set of Air Horns.

I got a big smile right now. The bike is fun, and it rides great with plenty of power. During break in I'm supposed to keep it under 5500rpm for the first 500 miles. No problem...that'll give me time to get more comfortable on it. The 6 speed gearbox is nice...cruises at 55-60 real nice. It'll go a LOT faster, but I need some more seat time first.

Congrats. I'm pretty sure there are some gs500 specific forums out there that talk about all the little cheap/free mods you can do to the bike. Probably want to look into some fork springs(not any time soon), since I'd imagine that bike is set up for a 135-145 pound rider. I know the sv650's are set up for ~150 pound rider and the springs are often one of the first things to go.

Let Greg ride it.

I'm about 225lbs myself. The rear suspension is adjustable. The owners manual is great - it covers the maintenance procedures and tells you step by step how to do a lot of it. It'll go back to the stealership for it's 600 mile maintenance, but after that, I anticipate doing most of it myself, as none of it looks terribly difficult.

I rode into work today. Definitely a different experience.

Congrats DR... glad you like it.

I want a bike, but I think I will stay away from the crotch rockets... I used to ride my buddies Yamaha R6 for awhile. I looked a circus bear on a BMX bike with that thing.

If I ever get a bike, it will be a cruiser. Prolly a Harley "Fat boy." I think those bikes are hot.

This bike isn't a crotch rocket...look closely at the handlebars, etc. It's pretty conventional, with a crotch rocket-esqe faring and tail.
