I see a digger dog Big Grin in your future. MIght consider barriers along the bottom of the fenceline as he patrols for illegal alien gophers.

I've had at least a dozen incursions by my neighbor's shepard, and boxer/pit , digging under a new 60 foot fence. many construction stakes, pieces of plywood, and concrete blocks finally solved the problem. A permanent solution is a concrete barrier in-ground.

Laying out chainlink fence along the fenceline , and then burying it in mulch, will disscourage "digger" from escaping to play w/ neighbor dogsncats. YOu could use chicken wire, but it's much easier to move around and get under.

skullbonesCArpet tack strip on top of the fences will discourage your cats from straying, too, and crapping in your neighbor's yard or getting eaten by neighbor dogs, shot by neighbor w/ BBgun.

Whatever dog I get will have will not be outside without my supervision until I really get to know them. Next Satruday I am starting the fence raising adding 2 feet for a total of 6 to my existing chain link and fixing some weak spots. The ground in my area is very soft, but since I am renting until next next year I have to be carefull with how much I do.

Black92se, I was surprised to find out that Shepherds are OK in a kennel for as long as I am at work according to the rescue I talke to today as long as I give them plenty of attention when I am home. Eventually they will get used to the schedule.

Currently the backyard is dog friendly only needed fence work and the cats have their room setup and are using the food/water/litter in that room.

Here are some pictures. They say he is a happy guy!

I look forward to meeting Reese in March. Good for you Keith! Cats are cats but a dog will acknowledge your return EVERY time you come home.

I got food poisoning on Wednesday and have never been sicker in my life. I have not been able to do the required fence work and told the Rescue people to keep showing Reese to other possible homes as I don't want to hold back his chances. I feel that he is the dog for me, but my house is not yet up to the standards required for his breed and size just yet. this sucks....

I have been through hell with this Rescue. Technically it is the Humane Society offering the dog through the Rescue that was the cause of my delay as I found out today.

The rescue has found a 6 month old pup I am going to see tomorrow that they say would be a good match for me. I have spent $200 at petsmart and that is just the begining. The next weekend we are going offroading and if I take him home tomorrow he is coming...good test for a young pup that happens to already weigh 75lbs... and they said Shepherds were a medium sized breed.
