picked up one of these yesterday evening..

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_SessionID=...TOOL&pid=00918419000

Its an upright 60 gallon Craftsman air compressor, belt drive & twin cylinder. I opted for the oiled compressor, as I feel that the oiled design will last a lot longer. The belt drive will be nice and quiet too. Smile

I bought it at full price.. went online and found that its on sale for $100 off! So, I'll go get that back tonight. Smile

my younger brother is taking it. Sears sells rebuild parts, so he can put some new rings in it and it'll be good to go again.

If he wasnt taking it, I would have thrown the tank up in the attic and plumb in some lines for extra capacity. I may do that anyway if I can source an 80 or 100 gal tank to use.

Also, if my roommate cant fix his compressor, he might be willing to sell it cheap.

Nice one!
what about finding a old propane tank to use for extra capacity. you can get em about as big as you want.

When i was pricing bigger compressors sears had some of the better prices and the good numbers on there compressors.
i went cheap and got a 5.0cfm @90psi from harbor freight for 90$. has no capacity but it'll work till i get a nice craftsman.

I found something unfortunate in the specs,
"Cord:
Cord Option

Hard wire only by a professional electrician"

awe damn! i guess you'll have to call a prefessional and get a permit and bla bla bla..

NOT!

wiring permit? what's that? *pulls shades down quickly* I refuse to get one...I paid well for one that the city inspector bought off after the "master" electrician left all the switches ungrounded and put gfi outlets on 2-wire in my bathroom. Oh, and when I tore the walls down to fix that, I had heavy termite damage ina load bearing wall, 14 gauge wire for outlets, AND bare wire connections in the wall by leaking plumbing....yeah, the city can kiss my little white ass about their permit. Funny, every thing that was contracted...I've had to redo. They put the tile down using mastic for wood when it's on concrete...can you say popping tiles? got to relay all that, too.

Good choice, you're absolutely correct on both counts. Nice purchase, I'm (once again) jealous!

If you used a licenced contractor, go back to that tile company. They will have to fix it or your go to the Registar of Contractors and they can lose their licence. Mastic is NOT for masonary, floors or for wet areas (like showers), they have to use thinset. Make sure they used latex modified thinset too.

yeah...here's the deal, these things were done at my request before I bought it, so I have no ground to stand on, unfortunately.
