So, this weekend has been just one catastrophe after another...

First, my septic system backed up and overflowed. Spent yesterday digging up the tank and calling around to find someone available on the weekend to pump it out.

In the process of digging the tank up, I cut a water line, so had to turn off the water to the house for 4 hours... Wouldnthave been that big of a deal except the swamp coolers need water to work.

I rigged up a hose from my pool pump to get water temporarily to the swamp coolers and in the meantime the pump truck showed up to pump out the septic tank.

This all left a 4'x4' pit in my backyard that I had to fill in last night, so the dogs woul;dnt be tempted to roll in in the overflowed septic nastiness.

I got up this morning and decided to take it easy today.. I mean do some laundry and watch some TV.. couldnt be that bad, eh?

Wrong.

Went to lift a basket of laundry and threw my back out!. My legs wouldnt support me and I ended up on the floor (Help, I've fallen and I cant get up!).

Long story short, I think I blew a disc in my back. Back from the ER with meds & strict instructions to take it really easy..

Back pain really sucks.

Been there , done that. Suck in your gut when you walk around- when you're able- abs will take some of the load off.

Try not to become too much of a couch potato.. Some studies have shown that taking it ( too) easy prolongs the recovery.

Suck it up.

Fish oil , magnesium(green leafy salads- good for stress), and your meds, will make you good as new.

Cosamin DS is a good glucosamin/chondroitin supplement, as well. Costco has the best price on it.

ASk your dad about it for the university research.

Holy crap. I'll quit bitching about it being hot working on the truck this afternoon.

That said, I've got some nifty looking bruises on my back from leaning against the axle pinion for leverage to drill the hole in the Tcase shaft. DL really freaked out when she saw them last night.

As for your septic, those ghosts of Drip have finally come back to haunt you. smiley24

Yeah, the septic was pretty ripe. The worst part of it all was lifting the concrete manhole cover and getting floaters gushing out the hole.

At least I wont have to do that again for another 3-4 years.

Wow! That's what they don't tell you when you buy a house with a septic system. We had to have ours pumped in Edmond OK. Also, you probably didn't kill a disc in your back. Your back muscles spasm and keep you from doing something that WOULD hurt your spinal column. What you need is an analgesic of your choice and rest. It will be pretty stiff and sore for the next 3-5 days but will be much better with rest. Don't aggravate it by loading engine blocks into the back of your truck! BTW, did you get the icemaker working?

I dunno.. when it happened, my spine popped loud enough to hear it and I ended up on the floor. I had to yell to Niki to help me get up off the floor.

I had Xrays done yesterday and they said the bones are ok, but it appears that two of my vertebra are touching now. I have a doctors appt tommorrow morning and hopefully can get in for an MRI after that to see whats wrong.

I havent had a chance to get the icemaker going. What I may end up doing is put both of the fridges up on craigslist so I can get one that has a water/ice dispenser on the front.

Before the cancer deal,I bulged 3 discs in my back.Listen to Bille,he's on the right track.Try to be as normal as possible, just don't do the crazy/stupid stuff.Try going to a PT or a chiropractor.Surgery isn't a good option, good vitamins and the proper exercises will make you better than new.

DAmn, vertebre are touching! that's not good. Do the doc's say what theycan do to get them back inline? I guess wait and see what rest and meds accomplishes, then take it from there.

HOpefully the analgesics will help w/ spasm. and things will move back into place or maybe you could get a geisha to walk on your back Wink or a good orthopod to do some strategic back adjustment.. Good thing your shooting for the MRI. I gotta get that done myself- backpain is contagious.

Those two vertebrae have been very very close since the car accident I was in 7 years ago (July 1st, 2001). Had to do 4 months of PT to get to a point at which I could sit up normally without pain because they were touching after that accident.

The problem now is with the same vertebrae, but it is worse now. We'll see what the doctor says tommorrow.
