What do you guys think? Since I'm pretty sure it's going to be a hell of a nightmare to find the H233B front or the passenger drop rear to convert to swap to a front I've been contemplating going the dana route. A friend offered me an open Ford 9 and a high pinion d44 for a good price but I'm thinking I'd rather just swap d60's in for the longer life. I found this one nearby but it seems a little high in my mind. He thinks it has a 4.10 ratio.

$1200 is to mich for a stock dana 60. You will end up rebuilding the entire axle anyways. What tire size are you planning to run? Dana 44's will be fine for anything under 39". If completely built.

$1200 is pretty standard for a complete Ford high-pinion king pin dana 60. Those are the ones everyone wants. Chevy and Dodge low pinion king pins go for $800-1000 usually but the carrier is on the wrong side for Nissan.
You can get the ball joint style Ford Dana 60's for a bit cheaper since they're not as desirable as the king pin versions. Brent 1972 K5 Blazer |

Well damn then. Thanks for the answers though. I guess I'll probably check out my buddy's HP D44 then as I'm just looking into 37's probably.

might be enough if you put in some upgraded axle shafts.

I built my axle about 6 months ago and purchased it about 6 months before that. The economy has people dumping their projects to make their house payments and put gas in their DD's so it wouldn't surprise me if you can get these parts cheaper now.

$1,200 is a little pricey for an 86. The pre 80 ones go for that much. The newer than 81 ford stuff is a little cheaper because the pumkin is very close to the knuckle. A decent 80+ from a ford should bring $900-$1000. The 78-79 will bring $1200+.
$900-$1100 is standard for a chevy thats decent, dodges tend to bring slightly less. There is some deals to be found on ebay, but location is key. The north east also tends to have better deals on axles but you has big rust issues there. Its very possible to find a D60 that will not need a rebuild. For the most part you only have to worry about your locker/ring pinions. Stock 35 spline shafts can take lots of abuse. 1992 Pathfinder SAS RIP 1994 pathy RIP 1982 720 RIP 1985 720 turbo diesel - Sold 1979 CJ-5 - Sold 1994 4Runner - DD for sale 1992 YJ Current project |

I also think the prices are only going to go up. The price of gas has little to do with it, but the price of steel does. For .10-.15 a lbs on steel people are really getting serious about getting rid of the junk around. I could not believe some of the treasures I saw go through the crusher the other day. One was an old bullnose Jeepster, paint and everything was good. I was kicking myself that I didnt have some cash on me or I would have bought the thing outright.
