I'll let y'all know if my tank pressure gauge was good or not. Hmm, wonder if shutoff valves can be upgraded. That is, wonder if the valve from Brents model can be put in the model John and I have. Just a thought. I only left my tank valve on overnight one time. Like most of you, now I turn the valve off, then the welder. I don't know the quality of the regulators that come with welders, but maybe it would be a good investment to investigate getting another one from a welding place. I just dunno, and that's another question I will ask Phoenix welding tomorrow(Saturday). Thanks Chainsaw, you beat me to it. I was going to ask if the ole' soapy water trick will work to check leaks
Enjoy the ride, Ben |

Get better valves on your welders, I have left mine on for 2 weeks before with no indication of it leaking down at all. Hell, the bottle itself was last filled 20 years ago and its lasted me a year already doing TIG work.

Just got back from Phoenix Welding. They hooked up my regulator to a full tank and my tank pressure gauge worked. So, back in December, I got an empty tank, DOH!!!. They said if that happens again to call in a day or two and they will exchange it for another. It’s whatcha get when you trust others too much. I spoke with them for a bit and got some good advice. They mentioned a good starting flow rate is 15 L/min, and when it gets windy, to bump it up to 20 L/min, but no more. Datz, if you leave your tank on for a week and that empties your tank, than you must have a leak somewhere. I gave that example to them and they said there must be something else wrong. With the higher priced welders, they are designed to leave the valve on for long periods of time. That way the amount of gas and wire can be a gauge on how much welding has been going on. Very nice any knowledgeable folks at Phoenix Welding.
Anyway, the mystery has been solved and I've learned a few things. Enjoy the ride, Ben |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the solenoid valve in my welder is leaking, which is allowing the gas to leak down.
