One of those would be a lot of fun... but the 4mpg thing would kinda suck. I'd still drive it to the grocery store on Sunday mornings tho. (Saturday is for driving the mog to the store).

Those diesel/multifuel engines will burn nearly anything. I'm taking advantage of the durability of older military diesels in my chevy truck. I'm driving around on filtered, used transmission fluid. A big duece and a half like this truck, you could stuff a 500 gallon (or bigger) tank on the back, fill it with waste oil/transmission fluid, and drive cross country, who cares if it gets 4mpg, its almost free!

The those truck has very poor filtration systems. For long life, you definately need to filter down and dewater waste oils before running them. I doubt it would run on pure gear oil, it's a little thick, but mixed with engine oil and tranny fluid, I don't see a problem.
