Day one is an easy day. Just a friendly loop in the Tonto Foothills.

We wanted to split things up into two groups that day ( heck, maybe three if anyone wants to run Mud Springs)

The Tonto National Monument is just down the road by Roosevelt Lake. I was thinking some of you may want to go and see it and then run the trail. Especially the out of Staters.

It is pretty cool and is only three dollars. It is a half mile walk up from the parking lot to the ruin.....

good call

It is well worth the drive and the hike if you've never seen a cliff dwelling up close. Unlike Montezuma's Castle you can walk right up to and through this one.

IIf you can, call the monument and see about visiting the "other" ruin as well. It's with a guide and the ruin is bigger, better and not as many people- but you have to sign up ahead of time. Well worth it.

Marchall I am up to go see the ruin. I am pretty sure Roger, Glenard and Matt will be too. I could use the walk and afterall this IS one of the main reasons we do these runs.

I'll do the ruin too. I've seen the lower ruins. They are really pretty cool and well worth the visit for the out of state folks. You dont get many opportunities to walk through ancient ruins like this.

I have heard and read that the upper is much better. Still havent been up there though.
