For the rear, what size spring perches, u-bolts, spring plates, etc. did you use and where did you get them? Wait, I just rememberd the leafs you used didn't come with your Pathy so they prob are not the same width as mine. How wide are your springs in addition to the first question?
Thanks. |

I can answer all of the above, but depends on front or rear =)

The question is for the rear. I'm running BDS springs and I would rather not buy new ones if I don't have to. I want to rotate my rear axle to point the pinion at the t-case so I can use my CV driveshaft. I can use wedges but I would rather cut off the perches (reuse or buy new ones), relocate the shocks like the Pathy for better flex, and do a u-bolt flip for clearence. The stock springs and perches are about 2 3/8" side and most of the wedges and perches I can find are 2.5" wide. They sell 4 degree wedges at 4WP that are the correct width and they told me they are for Jeeps.

go down to the 4x4 parts store, and ask for 2.5" wide spring perches. all brian's stuff is 2.5" wide. Remember that his truck was originally 4 link with coils out back, then the 2 shops butchered that, so the leaf setup in the rear of his truck is 100% fabricated. The ubolts he used are pretty standard stuff, 3" axle tube, 7" long, 9/16" diameter. Can also be had at almost any 4x4 shop around.

To use the 2.5" perches I wouldn't I have to use 2.5" springs or are 2.5" really 2 38"? If mine are more narrow I would have to change the springs, hangers, and shackles. This isn't going to happen any time soon. I need to gather the parts including shocks and parts for shock mounts and I will most likely have to have my driveshaft shortened. I may also pull the third member (again) so I can install a small fill hole and plug somewhere on the axle. First off I need more practice welding. I will also need a to make a crossmember to mount the top of the shocks to.
I did finally wash my truck, cleaned the fuzzy thing that used to be an air filter, changed the oil, and replaced the worn out driveshaft center bearing and two of three u-joints. It actually shifts much better now. I've got the skid plates off because in addition to looking for the exhaust leaks I want to make some more room for my front differential and transfer case by cutting out holes for them and then welding small plates over the holes to get more clearance. Right now all I need to do to wheel is reinstall the plates. |

using a 2.5" perch on a 2 3/8" spring won't cause any problems, neither will using a spring plate setup for a 2.5" spring, you're talking 1/16" on either side, well within reasonable limits.
