So whats the best mapping programs out there? I am looking for something campatable with the Garmin V and/or the iQue M. Also I'm looking for the ones that are the best for trails. Most of the street pilot ones have just that, streets.

I heard Mallquest 06 is out, you supposably can pinpoint JC Penny's at over 300 different mall locations now.

Should be a great help mapping out entrance and exit strategies. smiley6

Seriously, go pick up Garmin's US Roads & Recreation package.. its $99 and has most trails in it.

As a supplement to the above, I use Maptech Terrain Navigator for its printable USGS quad maps and the ability to do 3d topo rendering to check out the terrain before you even go somewhere. I can hook my GPS V up to my laptop and Terrain navigator will plot my location real-time in a 3d rendering. Pretty cool.

I have the National Geograhic TOPO! State series (for AZ obviously). It's ok, I load it on my laptop and use a USB GPS receiver. But the maps are the original 70s USGS 7.5' maps. I just recently purchased a 'expansion pack' that is supposed to update the roads. But I'm not sure I'm happy with it. Has anybody ever used the Delorme topo software? Does it go down to 7.5' maps? I thought System-F had it on last AZ Run.

Datz, I'd like to come by sometime and take a look at that software and compare it to mine.

Oddly enough, System-F just mentioned Delorme in this thread.
